The incredible shrinking party

If you look at Florida's voter registration records you'll see something curious. The number of registered Democrat voters has decreased by 141,000. Republicans have increased by 73,000 and Independents increased by 282,000. See the table I've put together below:

I'm sure the knee-jerk liberal reaction will be to blame the cleaning up of Florida's voter registration records. The allegation always surfaces anytime there's an effort ensure that only actual live people who are eligible to vote get to do so. But according to the liberal thought process these efforts disenfranchise minorities. But here's the thing. Democratic registrations are UP among Blacks and Hispanics. The number of Florida Hispanics that are registered as Democrats increased by 79,000 and Black Democrats increased by 25,000 as evidenced by the two tables below.

The big problem with the Democratic party in Florida is White flight.

That's 240,000 fewer self-identified White Democrats in Florida than four years ago, a decrease of almost 10%.

Ed Morrissey posts about the incredible shrinking party in other swing states.
