Can it be?….Well, if true: “You shall drink bitter waters!”

ten3ten2ten

Almost one-in-five (17%) Floridian voters is of Hispanic descent. But in Florida there's a sizeable Cuban-American population -- distinct from other parts of the country. They went slightly for Romney.

Florida

Cuban-American Voters

Obama 47%

Romney 50%

Entire thing here.

UPDATE: Now an NBC poll says a MAJORITY of Cuban-Americans went for Obama?!

Mitt Romney came far closer with Cuban American voters, picking up 47% of their vote, while President Obama grabbed 49%.

Unreal

As Pogo said... "We have met the enemy, and he is us"

I know of many, many, many Cuban-Americans that voted for Obama because they want to keep sending money and traveling to Cuba. I voted on Monday, October 30, in Miami Lakes, and while waiting in line, there was conversation taking place on this subject. There was no disuading these people. Many of the Cuban-American elderly -who only listen to Spanish speaking TV, and we all know they were pro-Obama- were told they would lose their medicare and social security if Romney won.

The resent Cubans inmigrants -not refugees- are ALL Democrats, and voted for the "Comandante Americano". It's good to live without working and on handouts.

This is a prime example of the horrors of Socialism - communism. Many Cubans in this country, have been brainwashed so intensily that they continue to elect Socialists.....Castro has ingrained in them the feeling that they need to be taken care of. it's disgusting that 47% of Cubans voted for the same thing they left Cuba for in the first place. Frankly, I have no doubt that many of my current family members in Miami voted for this turd thinking that somehow this turd is going to improve their life...I know my mom and sister voted for Romney, they get it, they understand!...I know those of us who came to this country in the 60 & 70's are still aware of the pitfalls of Socialism and what this system creates...yet, the ones who came in the 80's and beyond, especially those of you who braved rough seas on a small boat or even on a raft, risking your life, your kids life, your family member in the states who sacrificed everything to bring you to this country life....How the hell can you vote for this? How?

This is simply grotesque. Alas, it's also very Cuban. Remember, Cuba didn't self-destruct by accident. Well, at least that dumpy little cow, the Saralegui woman, must be very happy. She's been actively campaigning for Obama and made a TV spot (or more) in Spanish aimed at "Latino" voters, I believe at least one with Michelle Obama. I expect little Gloria is not exactly broken up over this herself. They're both probably preparing their get-ups for the Inaugural Ball. Lord have mercy.

So what are the percentages for American Jewish voters this time?

  • Asombra, see update link. Jewish voters went 66 Obama--Hey! We're closing the gap on 'em!

    Unreal

Why this higher percentage of Cubans crossing over compared to what I would think is the case? Maybe because we are so mainstreamed and successful that many of us think/live like those icky American progressives who are in similar jobs/educational/economic level as we are-yck! Then again maybe we've let in to the US those with a more socialist bent of late, unlike those of us who came in during the 60's, especially early 60's who really "got it". We can't forget that pre-Castro there was more socialism in Cuba then we all like to admit (think the vomitoid “Ley de Coordinacion Azucarera”-which made a shamble of private ownership in the rural areas) and so there is a strata that leaned the wrong way anyway-and they've probably multiplied like "chinchas", while the rest of us have had fewer kids.

  • Probably a very successful "get-out-the-vote" drive by the Dems. They got thousands of Castro's "New Men and New Women" registered and to the polls. This happened nationwide with other "Hispanics" and minorities.

    Unreal

I would actually be more upset over this if Romney had won, but as it is, it simply means Cubans are not much different from the non-Cuban electorate, partly due to assimilation, partly due to less "excusable" qualities. I mean, let's face it, if the natives screwed up as badly as they did, well, you do the math.

  • Mr. Mojito

Maybe I should start using the "GUSANO" epithet myself ???

    WTF !

  • asombra

Wasn't the pro-Obama Cuban vote around 35% in 2008? This means that, while the Jewish vote for BO went down 12%, the Cuban vote went UP 14%. Commentary is superfluous; the math is revolting enough.

While I know that more Cubans are voting democrat now than years ago, it irks me to see the media pundits talk about the "Latino" vote that elected Obama. It irks me NOT because it's not true {I know that Chicanos and others overwhelmingly vote democrat}, but because as usual Cubans are dumped in along with the other "Latinos". Example, Chris Matthews was going on and on about the "Latino" vote, so was Bill O'Reilly, etc... O'Reilly pointed out how all the states {Florida included} with "Latinos" went for Obama. Of course, anyone who sees this undoubtedly thinks that Cubans are just as responsible as Chicanos and other lateenos across the nation for voting in Obama.

While it is disconcerting that a growing number of Cubans are voting for Obama, at least the majority still voted for Romney. If anything Cubans--tragically--went the way of the mainstream non-Hispanic American population with old people voting of Obama for fear of losing Medicaid, young people brainwashed by popular culture and the MSM, and of course, recent arrivals only interested in their trips to Cuba. By the way, it'd be interesting to see if Cuban women were also swayed by the Obama's accusation of a Republican war on women.
