Caving already?
Republicans are “willing to accept new revenue” to tame the soaring national debt and avert an ugly battle over the approaching “fiscal cliff,” House Speaker John A. Boehner said Wednesday in a speech that offered a potential path to compromise in year-end budget negotiations.
With President Obama reelected and Republicans returned to a slightly smaller majority in the House, Boehner (R-Ohio) said Tuesday’s election amounted to a plea from voters for the parties to lay down their weapons of the past two years and “do what’s best for our country.”
“That is the will of the people. And we answer to them,” Boehner said, according to advance excerpts of a speech he planned to deliver at an afternoon news conference at the Capitol. “For purposes of forging a bipartisan agreement that begins to solve the problem, we’re willing to accept new revenue, under the right conditions.”
While Boehner suggested that Republicans would continue to oppose Obama’s plan to take “a larger share of what the American people earn through higher tax rates,” he said the party is open to “increased revenue ... as the by-product of a growing economy, energized by a simpler, cleaner, fairer tax code, with fewer loopholes, and lower rates for all.” [...]

Boehner needs to go ... him and all the rest of the GOP leadership dropped the ball this time.
Well, I would like to know more about this. It sounds very much like the Romney plan which would cut deductions and lower rates.
I am sick of these spineless, useless, Chicken Shit Republicans. That's why there will never be another Republican president. By 2016 there will be a LOT more people wanting FREE STUFF.
It's hard to defeat the welfare party.
We may be being hasty in a rush to judgment. If we get lower rates and no cuts in military it may not be a bad deal.
Everyone relax, and keep some faith,
Anything can (and will) happen between now and 2016. The stage for a great mess has been set in motion since 2008. Things can get easily out of control for the Democrats when they run out of others people's money to finance their supporters.
Honey,
I fear Obama will make dangerous cuts to the military and the savings will be wasted. I fear more Obama's desire to unilaterally dismantle our nuclear arsenal to levels below those of China and Russia. I think is the most dangerous step he wants to take and plays perfectly with that open microphone remarks with the Russian President.
When this happens, Obama will be inviting aggression from both China and Russia, let along the Islamo-facists that want to destroy us today.
I'm also starting to get fed up with Boehner. The scumbag Democrats, led by Obama, will drag the Republicans down into the gutter with them, so they can be blamed for the failure when things don't work out. If the REPs get a pair of balls and stick to their principles (doesn't seem likely under the current leadership), the DEMs will turn the media on them and get them labeled as the ones responsible for a lack of progress. Basically, since they control the flow of information to the ignorant masses, they will finish off the REPs just like they did to Romney. We're screwed...
Boehner is a boil. Compromising with corrupt criminals is not bi-partisanship. It's treason. Obama should be impeached.
Nothing excuses or exonerates those who re-elected Obama, but Republican politicians are part of our problem, and Boehner is a prime example. We're talking career and career perks, lots of lip service and precious little serious business (meaning the business they're supposed to be about, as opposed to their own). Like the old saying goes, "Mucho ruido y pocas nueces" (sort of like "all hat and no cattle").
