Quote of the day

Novelist, activist, and our good friend Zoé Valdés on the "diplomatic success" of Cuban dictator Raul Castro being named president of CELAC (my translation):

http://zoevaldes.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/fernandoviiyyo.jpg
"According to El Nuevo Herald, the fact that Castro II has been named the head of CELAC is a diplomatic success for Cuba. First of all, please, stop confusing Cuba with tyrants. Secondly, it may be a success for Castroism, but it totally discredits Latrine America."

I know what Zoé means and I agree, but strictly speaking, Latrine America was discredited ages ago and has no credit left to lose. That's part of the problem, that whenever it behaves disgracefully yet again, it's just "normal" behavior--and like Madame Clinton says (and she should know), what difference does it make?
