Guards beat Cuban political prisoner Emilio Planas Robert for refusing to wear uniform

Cuban political prisoner Emilio Planas Robert earlier this month was beaten by guards at the Combinado de Guantánamo prison and thrown into a punishment cell after he refused to put on the uniform of a common criminal.

The punishment was delivered Feb. 9, and as of Feb. 18 Planas remained in isolation.

Planas, a member of the Resistance and Democracy Movement, was sentenced in October 2012 to 42 months in prison after he was ruled to be a "pre-criminal social danger."
