And you know that you are Cuban when everyone thinks that they know more about your homeland than you and in fact, everyone feels that because you are an exile, you are somehow unqualified to speak about Cuba, but any Canadian, Hollywood type, college professor, Latin American or practically anyone off the street can.

And you know that you're Cuban when--unlike Black South Africans, Haitians, Chileans, or Central Americans--- you receive no empathy from anyone, because, you after all were a batistiano exploiter back in Cuba even if you are barely 12 years old, whereas everyone else suffered genuine repression even if their dictatorships are jokes compared to yours.

Finally, you know that you are Cuban when racist and hostile non-Cubans like Julia Sweig are chosen as spokespeople for your community.

You know you're Cuban when non-Cubans tell you to STFU about Cuba.
