Louisiana Chamber of Commerce charmed by lack of Commerce in Cuba

aaa765aa438

I SWEAR I am NOT making this up:

"When you discover Cuba, you will see it is untouched by commercialism. The only billboards extol the virtues of socialism or celebrate the long-past revolution and its heroes. There are no ads to entice you to purchase phones, soda, cars or travel, and there are no popular venues for fast food or coffee."

This is how the St Tammany Parish (Louisiana) Chamber of Commerce is promoting its forthcoming trip to Cuba.

So the very activities this organizations exists to promote locally, when banned under penalty of torture chamber by foreign Stalinists, seem quaint and charming.

BTW, your humble and hardworking and conscientious and loyal servant here happens to be a resident of St Tammany Parish Louisiana and recently gave a "talk" where many members of this very Chamber of Commerce were in attendance. The "talk" centered on how so many otherwise smart and decent people readily swallow Castroite propaganda and seem impervious to the plight of Castro's victims.

The St Tammany Chamber of Commerce ranks in the top 100 Chambers (out of 6700 nationwide) within the U.S. Chamber of Commerce organization. The parent org. opposes the Cuba "embargo" and arranges these trips for many chapters nationwide, but also endorses Senator Marco Rubio.

So in the words of the Moody Blues: "Isn't Life Strange...."

    I's all about the money.

There's no way to stop this as long as it remains PC and socially acceptable, and I personally can't get too worked up over it because plenty of Cubans do what amounts to the same thing, despite knowing far better.
