These folks have been fighting the Soviets and Russians for generations. Very, very dangerous. You do not fuck around with these guys.

P.S., This book was published in 2007.

P.P.S., Bodansky was one of the analysts who very presciently wrote about bin Laden's intentions towards the United States well before the horrible events of 9/11.

the original chechen revolt was nationalistic but degenerated with time into a religious war. As religious warriors they could tap into international networks while being strictly nationalist gave them little. Islamic terror ties have grown as a result.

  • “Don’t worry. We’ve infiltrated Castro’s guerrilla group in the Sierra Mountains. The Castro brothers and Ernesto “Che” Guevara have no affiliations with any Communists whatsoever.” (crackerjack Havana CIA station chief Jim Noel 1958.)
