Cuba’s dictatorship extolls virtues of gay concentration camps

Via Penúltimos Días, Manuel Zayas digs up some old Cuban regime newspapers extolling the virtues of the Castro dictatorship’s Military Units to Aid Production (UMAP) camps, which in reality were concentration camps for gay Cubans. Any Cuban suspected of being gay or deemed to be too effeminate would be rounded up by Cuban State Security and sent to these camps to do hard labor in order to “straighten” them out. Taking a page straight out of the Hitler handbook, these concentration camps had signs over the entry gates that read: “Work will make men out of you.”

Headline: UMAP: Forges citizens who will benefit society

Subheading: A brilliant initiative by the military boards

  1. The usual suspects will ignore inconvenient evidence or rationalize it away. They’re very good at that. Lord knows they have enough practice.

  2. The UMAP concentration camps were for any perceived “deviants” or “undesirables,” not just homosexuals, but the latter were the majority of those interned for basically forced “rehabilitation” through hard labor. The claim floated by Mariela Castro that unnamed functionaries were to blame, and that Fidel was basically “too busy with other stuff” to know what was going down in the camps is pure, unadulterated bullshit. He and all the top people in Cuba knew damn well what was going on and either actively or tacitly approved it (including the “revolutionary” queens like the late Alfredo Guevara).

  3. Do liberals care about the real Margaret Sanger? Do blacks care about the major racist skeletons in the Dem closet? Did the MSM care about the glaring red flags in Obama’s past, or what’s known of it? Case closed.
