Question of the Day – The ‘achievements’ of Cuba’s revolution

Today’s Question of the Day are actually two questions. On his blog Enrisco, Enrique Del Risco poses two questions regarding the achievements of Fidel Castro’s revolution in Cuba (my translation):

Questions

Isn’t there something logical and natural in that the leaders of the “humble socialist and democratic Revolution by the humble and for the humble” ends up producing prostitutes and golf champions?

Why is it that the Castro Revolution did not from the very beginning convert the military bases into corporations and golf courses and avoid wasting 40 years beating around the bush?
