Quote of the day – Venezuela’s orangutan

The vice-president of Peru's Foreign Relations Commission, Lourdes Alcorta, did not mince words in her description of the dire situation in Venezuela and wannabe dictator, Nicolas Maduro (via Punt de Vista - my translation):

"There is no president in Venezuela. That guy is an orangutan who took over the government and the will of the Venezuelan people, subjugating them and robbing them of all the institutions."

She's not quite right. Maduro's intelligence, for a man, is not up to that of an orangutan for an ape. He's basically a frightened weakling who sees no other way but deploying brute force to protect his exceedingly dubious position. He knows he stole the election and is correspondingly defensive. Very. He also knows he's not Chávez, who was far less insecure and much more "charismatic." Maduro, for all his bluster, is an incompetent imbecile (so is Joe Biden, but Biden is not the president and has a certain "crazy uncle" charm). The Cabello guy is just an out-and-out vulgar thug, and a very crude one at that. Not a good scenario--lo bueno que tiene es lo malo que se está poniendo.
