Babalu Blog — Rolling Strong at Ten

Val asked if we might post our thoughts on his blog’s tenth birthday. Actually I limped aboard (had recently lost my house and most earthly possessions to Hurricane Katrina) at about Babalu’s 4th year of intransigent glory. The hard stuff (starting the engines and getting this sucker off the ground) had already been accomplished. So I can’t speak for all ten years of glory. I’m kinda like Ronnie Wood joining the Stones. But here it is:

The Rolling Stones are barnstorming on their 50th Anniversary tour and many in the media are asking them: “why?”

After you read all the mumbo-jumbo it boils down to this: it’s still fun for them.

They enjoy hanging together, and playing together–and still feel they have something to say, something to contribute musically. Obviously it’s not that the Rolling Stone members need more money. In the same vein our (Babalu contributors’) wealth is so obscenely gargantuan that when Val (the Rupert Murdoch of blogging) offers us a raise we dismiss his offer with an amused wave of the hand–a snicker and a snort.

Again, I can’t speak for my brothers and sisters but much of the Rolling Stones motivation applies with me–and with bells on. If ever a topic needed dissemination in mainstream America it’s an expose’ of Castroism’s crimes, the plight of Castroism’s victim’s, and the shenanigans of Castro’s worldwide web of agents of influence. If we can help inform on these issues–while having a rollicking good time in the process, and while raising hackles on nangaras, pseudo-nangaras, “experts,” (but I repeat myself) etc…who could possibly ask for more?

Happy Birthday Babalu Blog! Congrats on a stunning victory, Val!
