The deep-fried Cuban sandwich

This sounds like an incredibly delicious version of the Cuban sandwich. I am not sure about the "secret sauce," but I am happy to see it contains no salami!

Big Tex Choice Award Winners Announced

DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - From eight fried finalists, two dishes have won top honors in this year’s Big Tex Choice Awards.

For BEST TASTE, the deep fried Cuban roll, is the 2013 winner. It’s a filling of slow cooked pork shoulder, chopped ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and secret sauce which is spread onto a slice of Swiss cheese, rolled up in pastry dough, and deep fried. Roll is served with a side sauce for dipping.

"Everybody loves our Cuban sandwich at the fair so we took everything that everyone loves in that Cuban sandwich, the roasted pork, the ham, Swiss cheese, pickles rolled it up into a pastry, deep fried it and you get an explosion of flavor coming out it’s awesome,” said Issac Rousso, creator of the dish. This is his fourth year to make it to the finals in the competition and his first win.
