Where’s gunboat diplomacy when you really need it?

According to Nicolas Maduro the U.S. is:

“Financing, promoting and defending members of the opposition that promote violence against our country!”

It’s really, really GALLING to get accused of doing stuff we no longer have the sense or guts to do!

No doubt many of the Venezuelan college kids on the streets today bitterly denounced U.S. “gunboat diplomacy” in their classrooms yesterday, much like many of the Cuban college kids in the 40’s and 50’s shrieked against the late Platt amendment.

But more of them would be alive today if U.S. “gunboat diplomacy” had prevailed in Cuba then and in Venezuela now.

  1. Obama is and has been out to lunch, but he’s not responsible for yet another Latrine mess which hardly appears to bother the rest of the Latrine world. True, he was rather more “engaged” in the Honduras crisis, but we must accept the fact that leftist hypocrisy is an intrinsic part of that religion and must be expected. Ultimately, either the Latrines FINALLY learn from their endless fuck-ups and straighten up, or they will remain mired in the same sort of muck.

  2. To be fair, though, Obama really does believe he’s an oratorical marvel. It’s no different from believing you’re Napoleon, but still.
