Venezuelan dictatorship official Diosdado Cabello has announced that Maria Corina Machado has lost her immunity as an elected official. It is yet another move that comes straight out of the Castro dictatorship playbook, but no surprise since Venezuela is being controlled and run by Cuba’s Castro regime.
Venezuela: María Corina Machado Loses Parliamentary Immunity
After Aligning with Panama, Machado Vulnerable to Investigation and Arrest
On Monday, the president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, announced in a press conference that opposition Representative María Corina Machado has lost her seat in the parliament, and therefore, her parliamentary immunity. Cabello claimed the decision was taken because Machado “accepted a position with the hostile government of Panama as an alternate representative” in the Organization of American States (OAS).
Last Friday, Panama’s representative at the OAS yielded his time to Machado, so that she could address the committee and speak about the crisis in Venezuela. However, the motion was clocked by Venezuela and other OAS-member governments in the region.
Cabello informed the public that Machado has violated articles 149 and 191 of the Constitution, and that this infringement gives him the power to revoke her tenure. This action allows the attorney general to start an open investigation on the accusations that supporters of the Chavista regime have filed against her.
“Ms. Machado won’t be able to enter the National Assembly anymore, because she’s no longer a representative, she won’t be able to enter the parliamentary offices as well … and won’t be receiving her salary as member of the parliament … she has lost her parliamentary immunity and can be detained any moment with out previous notification … She killed herself [by accepting] a position with the hostile government of Panama to speak at the OAS, without previous authorization of the National Assembly,” Cabello claimed.
