Cuba’s gangster government complains about lost revenue from “fraudulent” cell phone use
"The State monopoly ETECSA communications reported Thursday that a string of fraud, organized from abroad with the "complicity" of people in Cuba, is affecting the quality of cell phone service and causing huge economic losses to the regime."
What a web of hypocrisy and thuggery. The billionaire boys club in Cuba, better known as the Castro Family Mafia, busy currently promoting their so-called reforms allowing for private enterprise, cannot tolerate non-State sanctioned methods of communication, especially if they are not receiving their "taste" of the profits.
"The majority of fraud in mobile services are organized and implemented from outside, but they need the complicity of fraudsters in the country, without which communication can not be done," said the director of communication of ETECSA, Luis Manuel Díaz, in a lengthy article published in the official newspaper Juventud Rebelde.
He stressed that because of those facts, ETECSA "sees affected their income, its image and credibility and the quality of communications questioned by users (...) and international agents, with which are established and maintaineded bilateral agreements for the traffic of calls".
Diaz revealed that "certain facts (of detected fraud), given its magnitude and relevance, have been brought to the courts", under the "crimes of fraud, illegal economic activity, or receiving stolen goods".
In Cuba, with 11.1 million people and two million cell phones, users complain about daily SMS spam, mainly designed to promote new private businesses.
