People like Spanish royals being “diplomatic” (read accommodating) with Fidel is far more routine than their daring to be “incorrect” with somebody like Mandela or “Gabo.” It’s all about the risk/benefit ratio. Still, it’s considerably worse for the King of Spain to do it than it was for Pierre Trudeau or some Hollywood cretin, but then again, what else is new?
