Ros-Lehtinen: On 20th anniversary of Cuba’s Tugboat Massacre, we must ensure victim’s sacrifice is remembered

From the offices of U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL):

On 20th Anniversary of Tugboat Massacre, We Must Ensure Victims’ Sacrifice Is Remembered, Says Ros-Lehtinen

(WASHINGTON) – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, made the following statement on the 20th anniversary of the sinking of the 13 de Marzo tugboat by the Castro regime. The tugboat was carrying innocent men, women, and children attempting to reach freedom. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

“On this 20th anniversary of the sinking of the tugboat ‘13 de Marzo’, we must honor the memory of those innocent men, women, and children callously murdered by the brutal Castro regime by recommitting ourselves to bringing liberty and democracy to the 11 million Cubans still suffering under the yoke of tyranny. This murder of defenseless people reveals the true character of this tyrannical regime, which continues to trample on those seeking to exercise their human rights even as many in the international community choose to ignore this reality.

“Those who believe any accommodation can be sought with tyrants who murder their own people should look no further than this tragic event. We must continue to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people so that they see the day when democracy truly triumphs on the island.”
