Steven Bauer visted Babalú at Cuba Nostalgia to promote the documentary ¨Voices From Mariel, which chronicles the Mariel boatlift experience. He mingled with the crowd, posed for photos, and talked about documentary. He was great. Share (This post will remain on top throughout the event. Scroll down for newer posts) Share Earlier this evening I went over to the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds, location of the Cuba Nostalgia 2011 show, to supervise the building of the Babalu Blog Pavilion. Our dear Ziva, picked up earlier in the afternoon by our Founding Editor, was there to assist me in the strenuous, stressful -- and often back-breaking -- work [...] Here's another great "El Manisero" video by way of Stan Kenton. I added it to this post I made awhile ago on the Cubanology Blog and which still gets many daily visitors. What an impact this great song has made on the world: I still can't get over the line, "SI TE QUIERES POR EL PICO [...] Although most of the Babalú contributors are located in Miami, there are some of us who traveled from the West Coast to attend Cuba Nostalgia. Remember this album when growing up in America. It was a reminder for the Cuban exiles and connected them to Cuba while fighting their way to survive and make the American dream come through. I'm sure the Cuban-Americans remembered seeing and hearing it on Sunday afternoons.
