The State of Denial: ObamaCare and the Transformation of America

trap

What is left to say? We are now stating the obvious. As the democrat-run Senate and the GOP-lead House play a tug-of-war over shutting down the U.S. government over the funding of the unwanted ObamaCare law, Obama and the White House continue to dismiss the facts and deny ObamaCare’s already damage to jobs and the economy, and ignore and deny the damage to come. On top of this pain to the American worker and family, moonbat Nancy Pelosi praises the fact that American workers have now been reduced to part time incomes because of ObamaCare.

As ObamaCare Enrollment begins tomorrow, here are a few links to follow for how ObamaCare has already done damage to this country and the American people, and the damage yet to come:

“El socialismo no sirve” but some keep trying and trying!

How many times does socialism have to fail before people come to their senses?

Some have figured it out.  Chile, for example, has a sound economy and no one lines up at the US Embassy looking for a “work visa”.   On the contrary, Chileans travel to the US to invest, buy our goods and services or do a little sightseeing.  They also have a sound currency and a thriving middle class.

Some are still in the dark, such as Argentina, Bolivia, Venezuela and Cuba.   By the way, I mean literally in the dark, as we’ve heard of the lights going out in Venezuela recently.

It looks like socialism has a new disciple, i.e. the Democrat candidate for New York City mayor in the upcoming election.

Where is Rudy-G when we really need him?

Michael Goodwin explains that the Democrat in New York is running a campaign based on income inequality:

““Fighting inequality and fighting economic injustice,” as he put it, is what he’s all about.

Good luck with that, but before New Yorkers jump onto the Democrat’s bound-for-utopia bandwagon, some history is required. We could start with Karl Marx, but we’d just get lost trying to decode the incomprehensible differences among Marxists, Leninists and Trotskyites.

Instead, let’s look at Cuba, which, strictly by the numbers, reflects the paradise de Blasio describes. Fidel and Raul Castro had their way for 54 years and pulled off the socialist dream: The island nation had the least income inequality in the world, a survey found. North Korea also was off the charts.

Of course, there are some peculiar facts about Cuban exceptionalism.

Everybody is equally poor, with average monthly wages of $19, while children’s shoes can cost nearly as much.

And that much-ballyhooed health-care system? It’s a joke. Bring your own sheets, bedpans and food to the hospital, and pray you don’t die of infections or neglect. True, it is free, so your family won’t get stuck with a capitalist-size bill to bury you. What a relief that must be.

On my visit to Cuba, I was struck by the total breakdown of everything except the police state. Havana’s once-glorious architecture is crumbling, and there are chickens and pigs, but no running water, in large parts of the central city.

Half the cars are owned by the government, and the other half belong in antique shops. Smaller cities look as though they are stuck in the 19th century, with public transportation consisting of a man guiding a horse-drawn wagon. TV and Internet are scarce and tightly controlled. Complaining about any of this can land you behind bars.”

We Cubans know a thing or two about speeches calling for “income inequality”.     As my mom will tell you:  “Yo vi esa pelicula” or “I saw that movie”.

Of course, they will call us “right wing reactionaries”  for calling Mr De Blasio a socialist.  They will say that we see socialism in our soup and just can’t see straight.

What do you call it when the letters in your soup spell socialism?

What do you call a system that takes from those who produce and gives it to those who expect a handout?

We call it socialism. Worse than that, we call it a “‘fracaso” or failure.

Socialism has failed everywhere but there are still people looking for the right formula.   Mr De Blasio is the latest!

P. S. You can hear CANTO TALK here.

Keep Ignoring This Particular Problem Until It Swims Up and Bites Us … Again

Shooting At Washington DC Navy Yard Reportedly Leaves Several Woundedmass_shooters

The MSM (and liberals with Twitter accounts) resorted to the typical template with last week’s Washington DC Navy Yard mass murder shooting:

First, get the facts completely wrong, even the person’s name/identity … Just be first with the dirt
Second, continue to push the lie(s) because it fits the gun control agenda
Third, barely, if that, correct the error(s)
Fourth, still push the blame on the gun, even if it is not the gun used
Fifth, find somebody else to blame (always first blame the NRA, then the GOP and/or “Bible-thumping Second Amendment law-abiding Americans)
Sixth, stupidly and wrongly blame the TEA Party/conservatives/”rightwingers” (even though some of the recent shooters have been democrat/liberal-leaners … and Obama and gun control supporters)
Seventh, (“He played video games? Thank Gaia!”) Blame the video games!
*Eighth (continued below the fold), completely ignore the fact that almost all of the mass shootings are happening in “Gun Free Zones” … Yes, even military bases

You see, it is never the shooter’s responsibility, or their history of mental illness and its occasionally volatile medications. It is always a deflection of responsibility and blame and condemnation of the gun(s), the Second Amendment, those who persist in defending the Constitution’s Bill of Rights, the other political party, violence-based entertainment, global warming/climate change…

However, while we are grasping at blame cards, Ann Coulter does find a viable source of blame that absolutely does connect with the mass murderers in America over the last four decades:

There’s been another mass shooting by a crazy person, and liberals still refuse to consider institutionalizing the dangerous mentally ill.

[…]

But Alexis couldn’t be institutionalized because the left has officially certified the mentally ill as “victims,” and once you’re a victim, all that matters is that you not be “stigmatized.”

But here’s the problem: Coddling the mentally ill isn’t even helping the mentally ill. Ask the sisters of crazy homeless woman “Billie Boggs” how grateful they were to the ACLU for keeping Boggs living on the streets of New York City. Ask the parents of Aaron Alexis, James Holmes (Aurora, Colo., movie theater shooter), Jared Loughner (Tucson, Ariz., mall shooter) or Seung-Hui Cho (Virginia Tech shooter) how happy they are that their sons weren’t institutionalized.

Tellingly, throughout the last three decades, the overall homicide rate has been in free fall, thanks to Republican crime policies, from 10 per 100,000 in 1980 to 4 per 100,00 today. (You might even call them “common sense” crime policies.) But the number of mass shootings has skyrocketed from 4 per year, between 1900 and 1970, to 29 per year since then.

Something seems to have gone horribly wrong right around 1970. What could it be? Was it the introduction of bell-bottoms?

That date happens to correlate precisely with when the country began throwing the mentally ill out of institutions in 1969. Your memory of there not being as many mass murders a few decades ago is correct. Your memory of there not being as many homeless people a few decades ago is also correct.

But liberals won’t allow the dangerous mentally ill to be committed to institutions against their will. (The threat of commitment is very persuasive in getting disturbed individuals to take their medicine.) Something in liberals’ genetic makeup compels them to attack civilization, for example, by defending the right of dangerous psychotics to refuse treatment and then representing them in court after they commit murder.

[…]

In the decades since the deinstitutionalization movement began, more and more people kept being killed as a result of that movement — including the deinstitutionalized themselves. According to Torrey, between 1970 and 2004, the mentally ill were responsible for at least 4,700 murders in California.

Liberals will pretend to have missed the news that the Washington Navy Yard shooter was a paranoid schizophrenic. They refuse to acknowledge that the mass murder problem — as well as the homeless problem — only began after crazy people were thrown out of institutions in the 1970s. They tell us crapping in your pants on a New York City sidewalk is a “civil right.” They say that haranguing passersby on the street about your persecution by various movie stars is a form of “free speech.”

Only after a mass murder committed by a psychotic with a firearm do liberals spring to life and suggest a solution: Take away everyone’s guns.

Are You Feeling All That Promised “Hope and Change” Yet?

How great were the first four years under Obama?
Let’s just say Hugo Chavez is grinning up from Hell…

During the four years that marked President Barack Obama’s first term in office, the real median income of American households dropped by $2,627 and the number of people in poverty increased by approximately 6,667,000, according to data released today by the Census Bureau.

The record total of approximately 46,496,000 people in the United States who are now in poverty, according to the Census Bureau, is more than twice the population of Syria, which, according to the CIA, has 22,457,336 people.

In 2008, the year Obama was elected, real median household income in the United States was $53,644 according to the Census Bureau. In 2012, the last full year of Obama’s first term, median household income was $51,017. Thus, real median household income dropped $2,627—or 4.89 percent—from 2008 to 2012.

In fact, real median household income dropped in every year of Obama’s first term. In 2008, when he was elected, it was $53,644. In 2009, the year he was inaugurated, it dropped to 53,285. In 2010, his second year in office, it dropped to $51,892. In 2011, his third year in office, it dropped to $51,100. And, in 2012, his fourth year in office, it dropped to $51,017.

At the same time the number of people living in poverty in the United States increased. In 2008, according to the Census Bureau, there were approximately 39,829,000 people living in poverty in this country. In 2012, there were 46,496,000. That is an increase of approximately 6,667,000—of 16.73 percent—from 2008 to 2012.

And if that’s not enough, the number of households on food stamps in the nation now outnumber all households in Northeast U.S. Add to all of this the price of a gallon of gas has been over $3 a gallon for over 1,000 days … longest time on record. As Obama and the democrats still insist ObamaCare is just the greatest thing since TP and is not causing this country’s economic and employment problems, two of the nation’s big and important hospitals (here and here) are about to cut jobs

Reason warns, “The Misery of Obama’s Second Term – The president is now at odds with Congress and the public”

“Bored” To Death

thrillkill

I will not rehash the MSM and race-baiting-activist(s) miscarriages during and since the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin trial. They are well-known to this day. However, it is stark-raving obvious there is a huge difference in the way the “thrill kill” murder of Australian college baseball player Chris Lane is being presented by the same MSM, and the lack of outrage by those who shout about bigotry and racism. No allegations of racism or hate crime, even though the innocent victim was white, and two (if not all) of the three perpetrators are not white. By the way, no Barack Obama making any personal connections between himself and the victim … and a lame-assed genertic pressured response from Jesse Jackson that has fueled a growing Twitter hashtag of ridicule #FrownedUpon. Yeah, this version of “frowned upon” carried more weight.

“Idle hands are the Devil’s playground…” rings loudly here like a deafening bell. The claim is these three murderers were “bored” and just had to entertain themselves by killing somebody. Part of this can be directly linked to the highest rate ever of black teen unemployment in this magnificent Obama economy rebound. SOMETHING the MSM completely ignores … to this day…

Black teen unemployment is a shocking 41.6%. In July last year, the unemployment was considerably lower, at 36%. That almost half of black teens who want to work can’t find jobs is a stain on Obama’s economic policies.

It also does not help matters when being unemployed pays far better than finding even minimum wage or part time work to build your experience and work ethic to eventually move up in the world.

FOX’s Todd Starnes observes, “United States is raising a nation of savages”

It’s true that American culture has turned its back on God. As a result, we’ve lost our moral compass – replacing the moral absolutes of the Almighty with the moral whims of an all-knowing federal government.

Right is now wrong and wrong is now right. And under the leadership of President Obama criminals have become victims and their prey have become afterthoughts – ingredients for the surge in teenage violence.

[…]

And as the stench of our rotting culture sweeps across the nation, I’ve come to the conclusion that we have reached a moment in history when the make-believe world of violence no longer satisfies our bloodlust.

The United States is now reaping what it has sown – for raising a nation of savages.

We have become a nation where half (and I mean that in numbers, NOT in racial terms, so back-off) the people value nothing they have worked hard for and earned on their own, but managed to answer the questions just the right way on a government application and become eligible for lots free crap and money out of the other half’s sweat-of-the-brow. We have become a nation where superficial outweighs substance … Where revenge is mistaken for justice … Where a MSM agenda-driven false narrative outweighs solid logic and reasoning, and the truth.

God help us.

ObamaCare Sort of Resembles CastroCare

care

care2

Remember how Castro “Sicko”phant Michael Moore praised CastroCare, in spite of the truth? Government elites and pals get the decent care, while the rest of the Cubans get crap.

Don’t worry. We will get there sooner rather than later

To the ranks of those who will get a break from the rules of Obamacare you can add … members of Congress and more than 10,000 of their staffers.

Bowing to complaints from the Capitol Hill crowd, the Obama administration on Wednesday announced that members and staffers will keep the generous subsidies they currently receive through the federal health insurance program. Under the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, many of them would have had to pay much more as they shifted to buying insurance through one of the new exchanges being created.

Whew! Catastrophe averted. Congress gets to keep its wonderful health insurance subsidy.

Congress justified its special deal because lawmakers apparently forgot to include a provision that allowed their subsidies to be paid when they and their staffs were shifted into the marketplaces. They needed White House help — and President Barack Obama’s personal intervention — to bail themselves out of their own mess. Is there any better example of a sloppily written law?

So the carve-outs are growing.

America’s businesses have been excused for one year from the requirement that they provide coverage for employees or pay a fine.

Capitol Hill keeps its subsidies.

Who’ll be next to get special treatment? We know who should be: Everyone else. Remember, most Americans are still on the hook to pay a penalty if they don’t have insurance coverage next year. That’s the Obamacare “individual mandate.”

But since companies don’t even have to report whether they offer employees insurance or who accepts coverage, the individual mandate can’t be fairly enforced.

How about we all agree on a simple principle: As long as employers get a pass from their mandate, all individuals should get a pass from their mandate.

“Phony Scandals”

Last week, while on his continuing campaign trail, Obama complained about “phony scandals” keeping republicans in the U.S. Congress too busy to pass his economy-wrecking socialist agenda. Shortly after the unconscionable gaffe crossed the live airwaves a large percentage of Americans took a collective gasp. Exactly what is phony about the Obama administration’s scandals, and precisely which of those scandals does Obama consider “phony”?

Benghazi – Christopher Stevens – Sean Smith – Glen Doherty – Tyrone S. Woods + (David Ubben x 20 hours/severely wounded on roof) = phony scandal.

Now, about that phony IRS scandal

tyranny

Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group, the American Future Fund, before recommending that the commission prosecute it for violations of campaign-finance law. Lerner, the former head of the IRS’s exempt-organizations division, worked at the FEC from 1986 to 1995, and was known for aggressive investigation of conservative groups during her tenure there, too.

“Several months ago . . . I spoke with you about the American Future Fund, a 501(c)(4) organization that had submitted an exemption application the IRS [sic],” the FEC attorney wrote Lerner in February 2009. The FEC, which polices violations of campaign-finance laws, is not exempted under Rule 6103, which prohibits the IRS from sharing confidential taxpayer information, but the e-mail indicates Lerner may have provided that information nonetheless: “When we spoke last July, you had told us that the American Future Fund had not received an exemption letter from the IRS,” the FEC attorney wrote.

The timing of the correspondence between Lerner and the FEC suggests the FEC attorney sought information from the IRS in order to influence an upcoming vote by the six FEC commissioners…

House Ways and Means Committee chairman Dave Camp and oversight-subcommittee chairman Charles Boustany are calling on the IRS, in the wake of these revelations, to provide all communications between the agency and the FEC between 2008 and 2012. “The American public is entitled to know whether the IRS is inappropriately sharing their confidential tax information with other agencies,” …

“Obama’s Castro-like speech, both in substance and length, bombs…”

ospeech

As usual we must swim across the deep blue pond to get the honest reviews/reporting from the UK’s non-Obama appeasing media. Here is the Telegraph’s Nile Gardiner on Obama’s long and inane speech from yesterday afternoon at Knox College, Illinois…

Today’s speech at Knox College, Illinois, was supposed to be the president’s come-back moment, the first of a series of addresses aimed at retaking the initiative by the White House. Instead it was a train-wreck. In an hour-long address, which seemed to last forever (and par for course started 15 minutes late), the president spoke in deeply partisan terms, often with bitterness and anger, lambasting his political opponents, dismissing criticism of his policies, and launching into his favourite theme of class warfare, attacking the wealthy and what he calls the “winner takes all economy.” In a display of extraordinary arrogance (even by his standards), he condemned what he called “an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals,” a direct reference to the Congressional investigations into the IRS and Benghazi scandals, which most Americans don’t see as phony. He also defended his increasingly unpopular Obamacare proposals, attacking what he calls “a politically-motivated misinformation campaign,” while failing to acknowledge that moderate Democrats are “steadily turning against Obamacare” as The Washington Post reported today.

This was a highly defensive speech, with President Obama in full campaign mode. There were no fresh ideas, just a tired rehash of earlier campaign rhetoric. It was also another love letter to big government, with a clarion call for yet more federal spending on environmental measures, infrastructure, manufacturing, and a laundry list of liberal pet causes. There was not a word about reducing the burden of government regulation, and getting bureaucracy off the backs of entrepreneurs. His speech promised more government spending at a time when America’s national debt is approaching a staggering $17 trillion. He rejected tax cuts, and bashed the rich, at times sounding more like Francois Hollande than the leader of the free world.

Once again, Barack Obama demonstrated why he has built an unenviable reputation as a perpetual campaigner in chief, with an overwhelmingly partisan agenda. Obama is no Ronald Reagan, who always sought to bring the country together based on the common ideals of the Founding Fathers. President Obama’s message will do nothing to reassure a sceptical American public. With unemployment still above 10 percent in 27 major US metropolitan areas, and nearly one in six Americans living on food stamps, the economic record of this administration leaves much to be desired. Today in Illinois, President Obama spoke the language of decline, promising more of the same left-wing policies that have weakened US competitiveness, eroded economic freedom, and have saddled the world’s superpower with historic levels of debt. Americans deserve better than the failed statism that has bankrupted cities like Detroit, and threatens to do the same to the rest of the country.

The Castros’ Extra Large Buddy is Getting Un-Hitched

Michael Moore, the sworn champion of “the 99%” and insists the rich 1% must give up most of their wealth to the state, is about to attempt to keep his soon-to-be “ex” from taking him and his 1% multi-millions to the cleaners…

FLINT, MI — Flint’s best-known power couple is apparently splitting with Michael Moore and Kathleen Glynn going their separate ways.

Moore filed for divorce from Glynn, his wife of 21 years on June 17, according to a complaint filed in a circuit court near their home on Torch Lake.

The Antrim County Circuit Court complaint says Moore and Glynn no longer live together and that their relationship has broken down with “no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved.”

The divorce complaint says the couple was married in Flint on Oct. 19, 1991, and own a home in the Traverse City area.

The couple have no children, according to the filing.

MLive-The Flint Journal could not immediately reach Moore, Glynn, or the attorneys representing Moore for comment.

Glynn, who like Moore is a Flint native, has yet to answer the divorce complaint and has no attorney of record, according to Antrim County records.

Moore’s attorneys are Joseph Aviv and Jason R. Abel of the Bloomfield Hills law firm of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz and Cohn.

The law firm’s Web site describes Aviv as Michigan’s leading attorney for high-end divorce work.

The divorce is likely to involve millions of dollars, including the couple’s Torch Lake home, which has a taxable value of $1.2 million, according to Antrim County property records.

Although Moore has at times denied having a net worth among the top 1 percent of the population in the United States, he has an estimated worth of $50 million, according to the Web site www.celebritynetworth.com.
