"You deserve better, my friends, and we expect better..."

I have been listening to and reading about Daniel Hannan for a few years now. I imagine our Founding Fathers had more than a bit of the Brit left in their accents and proper English as they discussed and debated the basic founding of our republic post-Revolution. I find it striking that some of the loudest pro-American patriot voices have foreign accents, especially English accents. How ironic is it that the country we fought for our independence from over 235 years ago, and who fought back at us to keep us entangled with them, are now urging us to hold onto our republic and independence centuries later? Conservative people, such as Hannan and Mark Steyn, speak the strongest about this nation's best qualities, and warn us against following the rest of the socialist world off the cliff.

Love this guy.

Great Britain's Daniel Hannan at CPAC 2012:

Here is a bit of Mark Steyn's latest column, "The Church of Obama", regarding the "women's health" mandate that sparked last weeks major rift with the Catholic Church, and other religious sects, and the Obama administration, but I recommend reading it in full so as not to miss Steyn's sarcasm and dry humor therein...

The bigger the Big Government, the smaller everything else: First, other pillars of civil society are crowded out of the public space; then, the individual gets crowded out, even in his most private, tooth-level space. President Obama, Commissar Sebelius, and many others believe in one-size-fits-all national government — uniformity, conformity, supremacy from Maine to Hawaii, for all but favored cronies. It is a doomed experiment — and on the morning after it will take a lot more than a morning-after pill to make it all go away.

And a reminder from Pasha as he intimidates the good Dr. Yuri Zhivago with the stark reality they now live under. Yep, we are that red locomotive in Hannan's rearview mirror.

There have been a few posts here about the new book penned by Mimi Alford who served as a very young intern for JFK. Ms. Alford recounts the lurid details of how she was sexually used by the late president.

As you can imagine, the MSM (oddly enough, female MSMers) is not taking kindly to this woman's audacity to write a book, burdening society with her side of the story. She appeared on ABC's <strike>"The View"</strike> Hen House on Friday, and Barbara Walters was just as indignant as you could ever imagine a JFK sycophant to be. She harped on the idea that Alford would undoubtedly make money on the book, scolded her for not being concerned with how Caroline Kennedy would feel, and pretty much lays Monica Lewinsky's plight in Alford's lap. Walters goes so far as to insist Mimi Alford didn't need to have written the book, citing, "You could have let it go!"

As if Ms. Alford had not been victimized enough by Kennedy, the self-appointed Kennedy toady, despicable socialist shrew, and old news hound victimized her again.

Not an ounce of compassion for Mimi Alford, who was no more than an innocent naïve girl during the early 1960s when women and girls were at the mercy of such men in power, and trapped within an era of society that didn't speak of such things. Excuse me, but I believe Walters was all-in for the struggle of the women's lib movement a few years after Alford's encounters inside the White House. She was among those righteous women claiming women were historically victimized by men in general, and powerful men to be sure, as nothing more than degraded sex objects ... treated like meat. All those leading feminists that led the way to the burning garbage barrels with their bras insisted on confessing to all the world the evils done to them by men in their lives ... to women in general since the dawn of humanity. But Mimi Alford is to be snorted at and scolded simply because she dares write about the sins committed against her by one of the liberal feminists' patron saints, JFK ... Walters herself mentions Kennedy's checkered past, yet, insists on protecting him still by trying to verbally bloody one of his victims. Hell, I expected to hear Walters break out into a Louisiana drawl and declare, "Drag a hundred-dollar bill through a trailer park..." James Carville-style. But then, I imagine in her high-toned sanctimonious Manhattan scoff she was doing just that by repeatedly mentioning, "You'll make a lot of money"... as if Mimi Alford was prostituting herself for writing her story in a book.

Makes you wonder how Walters and her ilk would treat a woman that wrote such a book about, say, Ronald Reagan.

Tim Graham of NewsBusters reminds:

Almost four years ago, ABC’s Barbara Walters came out with her memoir Audition, using as its selling point a tale of her tawdry 1970s affair with married black Sen. Edward Brooke (R-Mass.). Seldom has a TV personality been a more shameless public hypocrite than Walters was on Friday with former Kennedy mistress Mimi Alford during an interview on “The View.”

Indeed, and for what it's worth, let's not forget feminist Walters also never met a bloody totalitarian male dictator she didn't fawn over...

As Humberto would say "Unreal"!

I love his unapologetic demeanor. He highlights his and Tucker Carlson's evening of dinner and conversation with Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn at their home. He mentions the "Occupy movement", defends the TEA Party against the MSM, and announces conservatives have basically finally coming out of the closet. He also says we WILL be vetting Obama in this election, unlike 2008, and announces he has videos of Obama during his college years that he, Andrew, will be releasing during the general election.

Enjoy...

Earlier this week Alberto posted a story on the upcoming primaries in Venezuela. You can gather the people of that country are hoping for change in their next presidential election. I believe many of us can sympathize with them. For over three years some of us have made the comparisons between Obama and Hugo Chavez. However, I found myself easily able to substitute Chavez's name with Obama's as I read this article...

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuelan opposition supporters vote on Sunday in a primary likely to anoint youthful governor Henrique Capriles as the candidate to face socialist President Hugo Chavez in an October election that is already shaping up as a fierce fight.

Outwitted by Chavez since 1998, opposition leaders hope the nationwide ballot will galvanize their ranks, produce a unity candidate and help them finally unseat Chavez, whose mix of social spending and hostility to business has split the OPEC member nation's people.

Obviously I was able to ignore the "OPEC member" reference amid the blinding parallels because, under Obama, our nation is not only NOT an OPEC member, but cannot even enter into the Keystone Pipeline agreement with our neighbor and ally Canada. Quite the contrary, Obama seems content with our country being at the mercy of OPEC members who regard the U.S. as an enemy, even if Obama believes he's won them over with his unclenched fist.

Strong voter turnout on Sunday would help give the opposition momentum for a campaign where it hopes to portray Chavez, 57, as a Cold War-era ideologue who has lost focus on day-to-day problems such as crime and unemployment.

I know ... Weird, isn't it?

"I'm not an imperialist. Those are debates from 50 years ago when I wasn't even born," Miranda state governor Capriles recently told reporters, referring to Chavez's epithet for foes.

"This is a debate between stagnation and progress."

Here I was struck by the similarities of the liberal/leftist democrats' (and the media's) constant depiction of conservatives/republicans running in this country's election cycle. Among other scare rhetoric, the race card has been thrown down so many times by these people that it has become so transparent you can see straight through to their lunacy in using it, and the choruses of things like "Jim Crow", in order to obfuscate the real and critical issues. Obama and democrats warn republicans will pull the country back decades away from the progress that they have made. Yeah, that is pretty much the plan. The real progress we need is exactly the same progress Venezuela needs.

Drawing derision from Chavez, the five candidates in the primary have crisscrossed Venezuela, from Andean foothills to Amazon jungle hamlets, attacking his record and promising to stay united behind whoever wins on Sunday.

Well, I hope they are successful at that because our guys have spent more time and energy beating each other to a pulp and barely landing a glove on Obama's failed record ... and I am having a hard time envisioning unity in the GOP at this point of our long campaign.

President John F Kennedy ordered an aide to buy him as many Cuban cigars as he could just hours before he authorised the U.S. trade embargo - which subsequently made them illegal.

Kennedy asked his head of press and fellow cigar smoker Pierre Salinger to obtain '1,000 Petit Upmanns' on February 6, 1962, so he could have them in his hands before they were deemed contraband.

Then, seconds after he was told the next morning that 1,200 of Cuba's finest export had been bought for him, he signed the decree to ban all of the communist state's products from the U.S.

The re-surfacing of the story, initially recounted by Salinger to Cigar Aficionado magazine in 1992, comes with the passing of the 50th anniversary of the embargo yesterday.
JFK, he said, called him into his office and said he needed 'some help' to find 'a lot of cigars'. He wanted '1,000 Petit Upmanns' and needed them by 'tomorrow morning'.
Salinger added: 'I walked out of the office wondering if I would succeed. But since I was a solid Cuban cigar smoker, I knew a lot of stores. I worked on the problem into the evening.

'The next morning, I walked into my White House office at about 8am, and the direct line from the President's office was already ringing. He asked me to come in immediately.
'How did you do Pierre?' he asked, as I walked through the door. 'Very well,' I answered. In fact, I'd gotten 1,200 cigars. Kennedy smiled, and opened up his desk.
'He took out a long paper which he immediately signed. It was the decree banning all Cuban products from the United States. Cuban cigars were now illegal in our country.'

Then there is Obama's attack on religious freedom.
A reminder to "progressive" Catholics from a bit of an exchange three years ago as Obama addressed The Univeristy of Notre Dame's 2009 graduating class:

Good afternoon. To Father Hesburgh, to Notre Dame trustees, to faculty, to family: I am honored to be here today. (Applause.) And I am grateful to all of you for allowing me to be a part of your graduation.

And I also want to thank you for the honorary degree that I received. I know it has not been without controversy. I don't know if you're aware of this, but these honorary degrees are apparently pretty hard to come by. (Laughter.) So far I'm only 1 for 2 as President. (Laughter and applause.) Father Hesburgh is 150 for 150. (Laughter and applause.) I guess that's better. (Laughter.) So, Father Ted, after the ceremony, maybe you can give me some pointers to boost my average.

I also want to congratulate the Class of 2009 for all your accomplishments. And since this is Notre Dame --

AUDIENCE MEMBER: Abortion is murder! Stop killing children!

AUDIENCE: Booo!

THE PRESIDENT: That's all right. And since --

AUDIENCE: We are ND! We are ND!

AUDIENCE: Yes, we can! Yes, we can!

THE PRESIDENT: We're fine, everybody. We're following Brennan's adage that we don't do things easily. (Laughter.) We're not going to shy away from things that are uncomfortable sometimes. (Applause.)

This should be alarming to everyone.

This explains most of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's decisions/actions while sitting in the highest court in our republic. She obviously shares Obama's views that the U.S. Constitution is "flawed". These people take an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

So now when Egypt is preparing to write a constitution for its newly liberated country, one of our own justices tells it to not look at our document for a model. It's just too old, or something...

This is somebody that has pretty much a lifetime position as one of the highest judges in this republic that apparently does not like, or agree with or believe in the foundation of our nation. According to her assessment the U.S. Constitution is somehow antiquated. Our Constitution is 225 years old. It is the oldest document of a nation's people in the history of civilization. Not only has it served generations of Americans, but it was a driving force during the course of those generations to bring freedom and liberty to others around the world.

Allahpundit @ HotAir points out some problems with the constitutions Justice Ginsburg holds in higher value than ours:

Ginsburg’s fondness for South Africa’s constitution, I take it, comes from the fact that their bill of rights includes welfare-state guarantees like the right to housing and the right to health care. In an age when the western world is starting to collapse under the weight of entitlements, she seems to prefer a model that would make it even harder to reform those entitlements through normal democratic means. That’s the last thing Egypt needs given how deep its economic problems run; there’s no way the government will be able to vindicate those rights anytime soon, so why make any promises? But they will promise, no doubt, because that’s what Egyptians are expecting, and if the new regime can’t keep its promise then it’ll simply revert to Mubarak tactics to quiet popular discontent. That’s the other unspoken punchline here, of course — that culture matters at least as much as what’s in the constitution, and probably more. No doubt Coptic Christians will have the right to free speech under whatever Egypt’s new parliament comes up with, just as North Koreans constitutionally have the right to vote, but how long do you think that’ll last under a government dominated by Islamists? In fact, note that the other model she mentions here is Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which somehow failed to prevent Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant from being hassled for criticizing Islam by Canada’s Orwellian human rights Star Chamber. A constitution is as good as the political culture that surrounds it. Ginsburg would have been better off reminding Egyptian TV of that.

I am less worried about Egypt's liberty than I am ours, right now. They are going Sharia. However, this woman is not alone in having taken an oath to uphold our Constitution, and finds it a useless nuisance. Hell, the US Congress is filled to the rafters with elected "representatives" who not only feel the same way, but legislate as such. Then there is the one sitting in the White House...

The next time somebody is sitting before a nomination hearing for a Justice position in the highest court in the land, perhaps to replace this woman, this had better be referred to, followed by a thorough grilling on the matter.

The left and democrats always claim to be the party of total inclusion and "a natural home for minorities", while, allegedly, the republicans have a very segregated tent. And when a conservative minority individual points out how it is not so natural, but a process of conditioning and even "brainwashing", they are also attacked. Yet, the liberal/left concept of "race" identity seems to end when an individual does not have the hive mind set. Now conservative Republican Sen. Marco Rubio is being told by a Latino group to choose between his heritage and his political views...

(SF Gate) — Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is at the top of every pundit’s short list to be the Republican vice presidential nominee, in the belief that having a Latino in the second spot on the ticket will attract Latino voters who have been fleeing the GOP in recent years.

But today at the Hispanic Leadership Network conference in Miami, the Berkeley organization Presente Action is launching a national anti-Rubio campaign during his big moment in the national spotlight, days before Tuesday’s critical Florida primary.

Their assertion, backed by recent surveys, is that Rubio’s positions on several key issues, immigration in particular, are far from the mainstream of the Latino electorate.

So Presente, a 3-year-old, 250,000-member online hub that aims to be “the Latino MoveOn.org” is aiming its campaign at the senator who is a Tea Party darling. The campaign’s name: “No somos Rubios.” (“We are not Rubios.”)

“Rubio has to decide,” said Presente Action co-founder and strategist Roberto Lovato, “if he’s a Latino or a Tea Partino.”

“You can never underestimate the ability of the Democrats to wet their finger and hold it to the wind.” - Ronald Reagan

I admire Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer. The lady is a dynamo with her hands full in a southwestern state that is the main corridor for illegal immigration and the Mexican drug cartel trafficking. Brewer's state passed SB 1070 almost two years ago in order to enforce federal laws on illegal immigration to protect Arizona citizens, but is being sued by Eric Holder's DOJ. To top it off, the same AG/DOJ and the ATF used Gov. Brewer's state to run an illegal gun operation (Fast and Furious) using law abiding US gun dealers to sell countless thousands of weapons to Mexican drug cartels, that have resulted in countless crimes and deaths on both sides of the border.

Gov. Brewer came away "encouraged" with some of that magical Obama "hope" when she went to the White House in 2010 to convey in person to Obama her state's dangerous border problems, and to ask for federal help in securing it for the sake of Arizona's citizens, and the nation. He said he would help, and promptly did and continues to help the situation. His help has been so successful that heads are rolling in Arizona.

Since their 2010 meeting in the Oval Office, Gov. Brewer wrote a book, "Scorpions for Breakfast". It has been out for a bit but not making much progress in sales ... until the last few days. This follows a very brief meeting on an Arizona tarmac earlier in the week between Gov. Jan Brewer and Barack Obama. Brewer greeted Obama as he visited her state, a letter in hand to bring him up to speed with what has been happening with the state's economy, and inviting him to accompany her to the border for a firsthand look at the problem. However, the man campaigning for re-election for a second term decided to express his dislike of the Governor's book, that he admitted not having read outside the excerpts concerning himself, right there under the warm Arizona sun at the foot of Air Force One. And people dare call Obama a narcissist. I imagine, despite Obama's handlers trying to depict this as onesided political theater, he must not have Gov. Brewer's telephone number on file in the Oval Office so that he could have called her regarding his disagreement on the book? By the way, this is only a couple short weeks on the heels of Mrs. Obama voicing her anger at another book not going over too well within the White House walls ... when they are actually staying in the residence. I ponder how the First Couple would be handling the endless negative books, nasty movie and 'art' depictions, and assassination plays then Pres. George W. Bush had to not only suck-up during his eight years, but defend as an exercise of "free speech".

But, as you can see from the photo above, the meeting was a little tense, with Gov. Brewer and Obama having differing views on the exchange. The Obama sycophants, being the insufferable imbeciles they are, have decided to take a single finger being pointed at their ordained fail-proof and foolproof idol and label Gov. Jan Brewer as a disrespectful racist. Right now most of these outlandish claims can be heard in the usual bilge gutter of the MSM, on television and radio. But give Obama's DC comrades in the Congress a couple days and they will get the memo filled with the talking points and belly-up to a camera. In the meantime, the democrats are using the tarmac encounter to ... yep, raise money for the campaign, of course. Undoubtedly more media idiots will be making even bigger idiots of themselves over this, if that's possible.

However, the one that caught my attention today comes from MSNBC analyst Melissa Harris-Perry while appearing on one of the network's low-rated talk shows. She equates Gov. Brewer's finger pointing with a photo involving the 1957 desegregation of a Little Rock, Arkansas high school...

After watching the clip my head was flooded with images, which I had to share with Ms. Harris-Perry in an email. It is as follows (with photos and videos added in place of the links used in said email):

To MSNBC “racism” analyst Melissa Harris-Perry:

I recently viewed your comments on MSNBC and my mind flooded with images your remarks provoked.

People such as yourself and the entire crew at MSNBC, and the media in general, are some of the biggest racists in this nation. Your recent analytical contributions to MSNBC regarding Gov. Jan Brewer’s tiff on the AZ tarmac with Obama is pathetic, and easily knocked down…

The fact of the matter is Obama picked the fight upon meeting the governor. If he has a problem with her book he could have and should have picked up his telephone and called her. However, he wanted a photo-op for all the media in campaign mode for his re-election to wave about as “racist” fodder, and like a good little worker bee you took the bait.

So, Ms. Harris-Perry, I am now forced by the standard you and others have set, to view the following as racist:

With Canadian PM Steven Harper.

And these are quite disturbing and anti-Semitic. I am surprised he did not have this man dress in striped prison PJs with a yellow star before meeting with him.

Using your standard of perception in these matters, I am reminded of this:

Sure looks racist to me … especially when you take this into consideration:

There are plenty of ‘events’ where Obama has pointed a racist finger at those he does not agree with, usually "white" people, such as Rep. Paul Ryan:

And the finger pointing to others…

As I said, I am using your way of viewing things out of proper context, and through race tainted glasses.

The man cannot run for re-election on his 3-4 year record, so he has the media trying to re-run the 2008 and past three year “racism” meme … and the American people are not buying it. He is failed, and the MSM is failing horribly. The collapse of this nation is on your heads as well as his.

I am not the only citizen of this country who is extremely disappointed in those who present themselves to be enlightened, non-racist, and higher-educated than the rest of us. Shameful ...

A few months ago Matt Drudge had a bit of fun with some 'finger pointers'...

(<a href="http://americanglob.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Drudge-Report-10.13.11.jpg"target="_blank">Click to enlarge)

And here is Obama today on the campus of the University of Michigan pointing his finger at "millionares" who are somehow not doing their part to pay for the higher education of other people's kids. (Side note: ObamaCare took over student loans. I imagine this was the plan on how to fund that little measure of the 3000 page law.)

However, I suppose the media is taking Obama's lead in these matters of racially stereotyping people...

Got it? Are we clear on this "finger pointing" stuff now? Some people are allowed ...

"Democracy" ... Somebody can serve you rattle snake and tell you "it tastes just like chicken", but it's still rattle snake.

Egypt held their first elections since the Obama administration helped influence the ousting of ally Hosni Mubarak from the country's leadership. As expected the country's secular government is now about to convert to an Islamic theocracy as Egypt's Islamist parties won 75% of parliament:

CAIRO - Final results on Saturday showed that Islamist parties won nearly three-quarters of the seats in parliament in Egypt's first elections since the ouster of authoritarian president Hosni Mubarak, according to election officials and political groups.

The Islamist domination of Egypt's parliament has worried liberals and even some conservatives about the religious tone of the new legislature, which will be tasked with forming a committee to write a new constitution. It remains unclear whether the constitution will be written while the generals who took power after Mubarak's fall are still in charge, or rather after presidential elections this summer.

In the vote for the lower house of parliament, a coalition led by the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood won 47 percent, or 235 seats in the 498-seat parliament. The ultraconservative Al-Nour Party was second with 25 percent, or 125 seats.

[...]

Muslim Brotherhood lawmaker Mohammed el-Beltagi said the new parliament represents "the wish of the Egyptian people."

Egypt's elections commission acknowledged that there were voting irregularities, but the vote has been hailed as the country's freest and fairest in living memory.

The liberals who spearheaded the revolt that toppled Mubarak struggled to organize and connect with a broader public in the vote, and did not fair as well as the Islamists. [...]

So, the Egyptian people, in what is being presented as their first "democratic" election, may have just used their first exercise of democracy to vote themselves out of a democracy. The Muslim Brotherhood is claiming it does not seek to force its views about "an appropriate Islamic lifestyle" (Shariah Law) on Egyptians, but I would gather the Al-Nour Party may just have something to say about that. And never discount the outside influence of those not holding seats in the government. It is also important to note that while the MB claims the country will not force Islam on others living within Egypt, some citizens, Coptic Christians in particular, are not so convinced as the violence and oppression against them increases.

The U.S. State Department is meeting with Muslim Brotherhood party leaders, and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton has phoned the Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Amr, following-up an earlier call by Obama to Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi:

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Saturday called Egypt's foreign minister to discuss the country's economic and political situation, as well as events in Syria, the State Department said.

It said the telephone call covered the same ground as President Barack Obama's discussion with Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi on Friday, which the White House said was focused on Egypt's need for a democratic transition. [...]

So, the Obama Administration wants a 'democratic' transition from a secular Egypt to an apparent, and possibly inevitable, theocracy, and the current military control needs to comply. Begs the question, "Or what?"

Not to be left out, Jimmy Carter is urging the Obama Administration to support Egypt's Islamists ... in the interests of democracy, of course:

"What has happened in Egypt boosts democracy and freedom," Carter was quoted by CNN as saying.

He added that Egypt now has the opportunity to form a democratic government elected by the people; it also has the same opportunity as free societies to achieve freedom and human rights.

Carter said he considers the US objections to the Islamists' win in Palestine, referring to the Hamas movement, to have been a mistake, stressing that this mistake won’t be repeated with Egypt.

"I think it was a big mistake. Maybe we would now have peace in the Middle East if we had recognised a new, elected new government and supported and worked with it," he commented, adding that this what we have learnt now in Egypt.

"We are now behaving differently, by giving the Islamists the chance to rule,” he commented.

Remember, Jimmy Carter is the godfather of our present day Iran. Islam does not recognize "freedom and human rights" ... especially of women, raped women, un-covered women, girls attending school, female genitals, young virginal boys, gays, a variety of farm animals, non-Muslims, moderate Muslims, fellow radical Muslims, certain geometric shapes, certain delicious animal products, Christians, Jews, and Buddhists, sovereignty and laws of other nations, tall buildings and commercial airliners, and free speech.

Libya, following Obama's kinetic operation that ousted Muammar Gaddafi, looks to be going down the road Egypt is, only a bit quicker and without benefit of election. The country might see a real civil war before anyone claims any sort of victory in controlling the country. Already those we armed are insisting Sharia be instituted, and some are not waiting for any sort of election or constitution to impose the fundamental Islamic law. Libya is far from 'settled', post-Gaddafi. Apparently there is no room for moderate Muslims in the newly "liberated' Libya. There too are outside influences pushing for control, and anything but democracy.

The Arab/Muslim/Islamic world is talking to the rest of the world and is spiteful and emboldened, but we seem not to be listening. From Bill Roggio at The Long War Journal:

The al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula commander who took control of a town in central Yemen late last week has released a short videotape urging Muslims "to unite and be patient" as "the Islamic Caliphate is coming."

Tariq al Dhahab, the leader of the al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula forces that seized the town of Rada'a in Baydah province last weekend, made the statement in a 54-second-long video on YouTube that was released on Jan. 18. The statement was translated by the SITE Intelligence Group.

"So, be patient, perseverant, and stationed," Dhahab told the "Muslim Ummah," or community. "The Islamic Caliphate is coming, with permission from Allah, and it will be established, even if we sacrifice our own skulls, money, children and homes."

How serious is this Islamic Caliphate movement? Islamic flag over the White House: Radical Muslims want America ruled by Shariah...

The "Arab Spring" has also resulted in an increase of anti-Semitism not just in the Middle East but in Europe. Radical Islam has been enabled over the last three years of Obama's laughable extending of an unclenched fist. They literally see him as weak and a failure, as a recent secret letter to Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei resulted in scoffing at the would be world leader. And he believes all he need do in Afghanistan is convince the Taliban to renounce its terrorist ties in order to have "peace talks".

Obama has invested a lot of stimulus (taxpayer) money (and political interests) into the unproven and failed technology of "green energy". As the media tried its best to not make stories such as Solyndra important, the money-pit still pops up in the news. But to add insult to injury (on the American people), the company has been caught destroying perfectly good parts and dumping them...

Just the other day Obama rejected the no-government-stimulus-needed "shovel ready" Keystone XL oil pipeline project from our friend and ally Canada that would have produced tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, not to mention influence the prices in the oil market just on speculation alone. House Speaker John Boehner responded:

"President Obama expedited approval of the Solyndra loan project, but won't approve a project that's been under review for over three years ... President Obama is destroying tens of thousands of American jobs and shipping American energy security to the Chinese..."

Canada is not very happy about it either, and some very interesting points are made in this video. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is looking for greener pastures (as in market/money) in China.

But Obama and the democrats are no where near finished yet:

Wth the Iran situation and people now contemplating $5/gal gas prices at the pump this summer, six House democrats want an unelected "Reasonable Profits Board" to control gas profits...

The Democrats, worried about higher gas prices, want to set up a board that would apply a "windfall profit tax" as high as 100 percent on the sale of oil and gas, according to their legislation. The bill provides no specific guidance for how the board would determine what constitutes a reasonable profit.

The Gas Price Spike Act, H.R. 3784, would apply a windfall tax on the sale of oil and gas that ranges from 50 percent to 100 percent on all surplus earnings exceeding "a reasonable profit." It would set up a Reasonable Profits Board made up of three presidential nominees that will serve three-year terms. Unlike other bills setting up advisory boards, the Reasonable Profits Board would not be made up of any nominees from Congress.

The bill would also seem to exclude industry representatives from the board, as it says members "shall have no financial interests in any of the businesses for which reasonable profits are determined by the Board."

According to the bill, a windfall tax of 50 percent would be applied when the sale of oil or gas leads to a profit of between 100 percent and 102 percent of a reasonable profit. The windfall tax would jump to 75 percent when the profit is between 102 and 105 percent of a reasonable profit, and above that, the windfall tax would be 100 percent. The bill also specifies that the oil-and-gas companies, as the seller, would have to pay this tax.

What could go wrong?

Remember what Rep. Maxine Waters (D) said about America's oil companies just a couple years ago? So much for that family vacation to Disney World. Well, at least Obama enjoyed himself there yesterday. THAT's what is really important, ya know.

And then there is the unelected Obama EPA...

New EPA regulations will force 32 coal plants to close their doors putting hundreds of Americans out of work.

The latest move by the EPA will force new regulations on 26 states. The new rules will kill thousands of jobs, cost billions of dollars and increase electricity rates for every family.

New EPA rules will force Western coal-fired power plants to install haze-reducing pollution-control equipment at a cost of $1.6 billion a year. Pictured is the Dave Johnston Power Plant in Glenrock, Wyoming. (IBD)

[...]

The Obama Administration’s new energy regulations will shut down about 8% of all U.S. generating capacity or the equivalent of wiping out all power generation for Florida and Mississippi.

America needs a high colonic in November to remove the blockage ...

UPDATE:

After the last few days of hearing the endless accusations, from democrats and the media (no, I will not be linking to them), of "racism" over Newt Gingrich having the audacity to state fact at last Monday night's debate in South Carolina about Obama being "The Food Stamp President", not one of these harsh critics has dared address the fact that Obama IS just that, as the graph shows (HT: Mark Levin):

One more thing, somebody call Gingrich’s and the other GOP candidates' people and tell them to point out the fact that more "white" people are on food stamps than "black" people. They might be able to do that at Thursday night's debate on CNN ... if they aren't too busy answering endless questions on whatever insignificant social issue CNN insists on harping on.

Nile Gardiner at The Telegraph (UK) comes to the defense of Obama's "dumb" critics. Yeah, a British journalist has to defend the American people against the Obama sycophant American media. Nile Gardiner outlines the counter points to Andrew "Who is Trig Palin's Real Mom?" Sullivan's fawning and excusing of Obama's last three years of basically channeling Hugo Chavez (my words/analogy).

In response to Sullivan’s provocative article, which has stirred up a good deal of debate in America, here are five reasons why President Obama’s conservative critics are significantly smarter in their approach and thinking than his failing Left-wing administration in Washington:

1. Obama’s critics have a far better understanding of the concerns of the American people and the mood of the country

[...]

2. Obama’s critics reject big government and the ludicrous idea that bureaucrats know best

[...]

3. Obama’s critics reject appeasement of America’s enemies, support America’s allies and don’t believe in apologising for their country

[...]

4. Obama’s critics believe that a presidency should behave with decorum, and show respect for opposing views

[...]

5. Obama’s critics know a gaffe-prone, embarrassing administration when they see one
