The Next Generation

I mentioned yesterday that one of the reasons I started this blog and jump into this fray day after day is so that the next generation of Cuban-Americans and Americans born of Cuban parents in exile understand our reality. While it’s important to assimilate, one must know their past so as not to relive it.

Yesterday, I received an email from a young Cuban-American thanking me for my work here in Babalu and attached was a link to a blog piece she wrote inspired by the article in the Miami Herald on Monday.

I urge each and every one of you to drop by and read Cuba Libre!

The post, she said, is dedicated to me because I am the epitomy of Miami. I fought the lump in my throat as I read it.

Gracias, Auspicious1, for the kind words and the excellent expression of your feelings. But, I can assure you, that post of yours isnt solely mine. It belongs to all of us Cubans in exile as we all, whether in Miami or New Jersey or Virginia, should echo your sentiments.

  1. Like Auspicious1, I haven?t traveled to Cuba nor will I ever travel there as long as the reason for me leaving continuous to exist. As long as apartheid is being practiced there, as long as I must get a visa to travel to the country where I was born. To me it?s a matter of principle that the years in exile have not been able to dissipate.

  2. The HUMAN PARADIGM – Intro

    Consider:
The way we define ‘human’ determines our view of self,
others, relationships, institutions, life, and future.
Important? Only the Creator who made us in His own image
is qualified to define us accurately. Choose wisely…
    there are results.

Many problems in human experience are the result of false
and inaccurate definitions of humankind premised in man-
    made religions and humanistic philosophies.

Man is earth’s Choicemaker. Psalm 25:12 He is by nature
and nature’s God a creature of Choice – and of Criteria.
Psalm 119:30,173 His unique and definitive characteristic
is, and of Right ought to be, the natural foundation of
his environments, institutions, and respectful relations
to his fellow-man. Thus, he is oriented to a Freedom
whose roots are in the Order of the universe.
