The monster lashes out

Via Lucianne.com we learn that castro has some problems with the EU’s award to the Ladies In White. And naturally, he manages to blame the U.S. Cripes, doesn’t he make a fool of himself? Lucianne.com’s got some excellent posted comments on that thread.

The story is here:

Raging Castro blasts EU as hypocritical, under US thumb

Tuesday, November 1, 2005

HAVANA, Cuba (AFP): President Fidel Castro Friday blasted EU nations as “hypocrites” after the European Parliament this week granted a group of wives, mothers and sisters of jailed Cuban dissidents, its top annual human rights prize, the Sakharov prize for freedom of thought.

The Cuban leader, 79, lashed out at the EU saying Cuba “can look at you in the eye, keep on staring and accuse you: you are corrupt, immoral, exploitative hypocrites.

“You are the ones who created modern slavery in recent centuries, after what was called the discovery of America,” Castro said. “You created colonialism, and keep it in place even today, you created unfair trade, you steal riches.”

“They are so low, as they always have been,” Castro charged at an art teachers’ graduation ceremony. BLAH BLAH BLAH (Let the tape go on for six hours while we step out for a cafecito.)

  1. castro is obviously concerned about the “Ladies in White” and the greater publicity that they bring to all his failures. castro realizes his cause is lost and it is just a matter of time. Dangerous times are ahead for Cubans on the island.

  2. castro-ruiz hmmmm. A Galician,no? Pot calling the kettle black? One other small thing; it takes you six hours to make the cafecito or to drink it?

  3. Kudos to the cafecito idea!!!

Now regarding one of his quotes “You are the ones who created modern slavery in recent centuries, after what was called the discovery of America,” Castro said. “You created colonialism, and keep it in place even today, you created unfair trade, you steal riches.”

I agree with Bill, where the heck does he think he came from? The Indios Caribe? Siboneys? He is as Spanish Blooded as my Dad (Galicia, so hold the Gallegos jokes please!) Besides, he seals riches (what about all the houses and business he embargoed in the name of the state?)

Typical that he would be peeved at this, my husband says he won’t let them travel out for to receive the award….and somehow we at the US are always to blame….man we must be really busy, with planning the invasion to Venezuela and all this attempts to infuriate Castro…as if!

  4. I actually have to agree with castro on this one. The Europeans are hypocrites, but not for the reasons castro thinks. They make a big deal about human rights on the one hand, and on the other hand they continue doing business with the murderous tyrant.

  5. Oh and another thing, he’s one of them. His father was a Spanish loyalist. His father fought (or aactually paid someone to fight on his behalf) so that Spain could to continue as Cuba’s colonial master. And then Castro made Cuba a colony of the USSR and now of Venezuela.

  6. Actually, conductor, Castro’s father was the one who was paid to fight for Spain. That is how he first got to Cuba. He was paid by a wealthy family to take the place of its son in the Spanish forces. Val, I read this blog every day and love it. I look forward to traveling in a free and democratic Cuba!
