Reader and contributor J Scott Barnard sends us this comment found on a Venezuelan blog that shows a photo of a Hummer in traffic in Venezuela — with Cuban diplomatic plates! The comments are in Spanish but you can see the pic below. Here is one the (translated) comments:
The Hummer belongs to the Cuban Embassy and is used by members of Cuban State Security with the blessings of the non-elected pres of Chimpazuela. Remember that in today’s Venezuela it’s better to be a Cuban asset of the Chavez regime than an honorable Venezuelan that loves his country. ‘Damn, I hate those yanquis but I love their cars…’ I guess there weren’t any Russian equivalents available?

And take a good look at the other cars on the road. If chavez is successful at castro-izing Venezuela, those same cars, held together by string and spit, will still be clunking down the pothole-filled streets 50 years from now. 🙁

Exactly Fl. Mom, also disturbing is the the support chavez is trying to build in the U.S. with his reduced cost heating oil programs and lobbying. And where is the MSM? Pimping away for the commies as usual. Very vile.
Not that it will change my opinion of either Castro or Chaves, or lessen my resolve that these are situations that need our attention, but man is it disheartening to read something like:

You can safely ignore those words. An article in a Vietnamese paper discussing budget cuts in Costa Rica for example will include “Damn, I hate those yankeys” somewhere in it.

Defense Guy, the original Spanish — and the commenter was being sarcastic as if those words were being spoken by the castroCubans in Venezuela — is this:
“Carajo que mal me caen estos yanquis …pero como me gusta un HUMMER”
Maybe I translated it too loosely, but I think I got the spirit right. “Que mal me caen estos yanquis” roughly means “I really don’t like those Americans.” I think their dislike of us justifies my choice of words in the translation.

Regarding Chavez offering low cost oil in certain areas in the U.S.A. … it’s imperative that we spread the word that whenever we “choose” to fill-up our gas tanks at CITGO … we are directly contributing to Chavez (and thus castro’s) propaganda … I rather pay a couple of cents more somewhere else than buy gas at a gas station owned by the Venezuelan government … I believe that many Americans are not aware of the CITGO:Chavez connection.
