While Episcopalian bishop Frank Griswold was hobnobbing it with fidel castro in Cuba last week, taking the time to stop and berate US/Copy policy and express undue adulation to the “charismatic” despot in between sermons, the despot jailed Reverend Carlos Lamelas, former president of Cuba’s Church of God congregation.
Nary a mention of fidel castro’s gulags, political and ideological repression or Reverend Lamelas encarceration from bishop Griswold, only lectures on reconciliation. Here’s a clue for bishop Griswold, reconciliation requires both sides to be willing to compromise. History proves fidel castro knows not the meaning of that word.
I’ve contacted the General Director’s office of the Church of God (Anderson) here in the states to see if they’re active at all in raising the Reverend Lamelas’ case with Cuban authorities. Readers can contact the church leadership through this contact page:

You can communicate with leaders of the Church of God in cuba via email addresses listed on this page:

Lamelas is still listed as President although the U.S. page lists Diosmany Mejias as the “national leader” of the Church of God in Cuba.
