All work and a little play is a drag, so Mora and I, Babalu West if you will, sometimes get together. Last night we had a great dinner at Versailles.
We went over some of the days threads, ate great Cuban food, drank, gossiped and relaxed.
Their menu is a mile long , they have everything.
We ordered Pollo Asado and Picadillo, served of course with rice, beans, tostones y maduros y pan cubano, it was great; so much food– we couldn’t finish it all so we’ll probably be eating the leftovers for lunch. I think Picadillo tastes even better the next day after all those flavors soak together over night.
I remembered to take a few photos — after the Sangrias and Babalu talk and half a plate of food.
Here’s a tip: leftover picadillo over fresh rice and a fried egg on top. That’s why I’m fat…
Any connections between the Versailles in Miami, and the one in LA? They have the same name, but different owners? Don’t they?
Hey Ziva…how’s about you and Mora fly down here and we all pig out at Versailles East????
Ummmmmmm, comida Cubana! And good company like Ziva … and Amanda!!!
Versailles restaurants have sprung up all over the place. Is this the one in Culver City, accross from Sony Pictures Studios? I find it to be the best one and I believe the original. And yes the pollo asado is their specialty.
Any dessert?
George, my favorite breakfast. The rice has to be cooked with lots of garlic and olive oil and oregano. Yummm.
Versailles has some of the best cuban food I’ve ever had. I love that place.
Bueno.
Ya que no one linked to my blogpost about the wonderful Versailles celebrations about Castro’s demise, here I am linking to my own blog.
El Chou de la Calle Ocho
Obviously, not only did I photograph the goings-on outside, but I had to go inside and take pics of my ropa vieja and cafe con leche lunch.
Oh, when I was inside, there came una gringa lady reporter, looking like a hippie refugiada from MSM.
She sniffly looked around, with an air of superiority, and asked to speak to the manager, journo notebook in hand.
Blech.
Cheers,
Victoria

The last time I blogged about Versailles/Miami, a California guy asked the same question.
IIRC, what I found out then was that they were not related or affiliated.
But I was assured that the food was mighty good.
Cheers,

Versailles is pretty darned good, but I was blown away by Havana Beach Cafe. It’s tastier, family run, and a little bit cheaper (which is a good thing!) Give it a shot.
Orlando: I am not absolutely sure but i think it was the one in Culver City. It was in Venice Blvd and near Sony for sure. The only other one i know is on la cienega near beverly hills.
