Sifting through a loved one’s belongings is like peeking into an intimate side of their life you never knew. Papi always liked coins and stamps; however I was not aware he was such an avid collector. I’ve decided to keep the stamp collection, but I’m looking to sell the coins for the most part.

Anyone know a coin appraiser/dealer I can trust? I remember a big coin circuit and trade shows in Miami when I was a child; don’t know if that still exists. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    If I’m not mistaken, there’s a coin dealer on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. It’s a small shop, on the same side of the street as the theater. It’s on the block that has the Lotus Garden, an art gallery, and what used to be Corset Corner. My mom bought a very nice Cuban coin from the 1920s that had been made into a keychain for my grandfather there. I’ll see if I can get you the name of the store.

  4. Carolina, Corset Corner is no more. They are redoing the whole corner on that street. Do you guys know of any reputable stamp dealers? My wife has her grandfather’s collection that needs to be appraised.

    It’s called Gables Coin and Stamp Shop at 322 Miracle Mile. The owner’s name is John. My dad (who owns a store four doors down) knows him well and says he’s been there for years and is very nice.

    Yes, I know. That’s why I said “what used to be Corset Corner.” Any idea what’s going in there yet? I haven’t been back home since July. And John also deals in stamps, so he might be able to help you with the appraisal.

  9. Did you sell your coins at all???.I’m a collector and buy a lot of coins from every where, but mainly USA or Cuba. I know it’s been a while sice the last message, bust just wanted to give it a try. Let me know
