Venezuela: To boot a puny castro

Last night I had a dream. Not only did castro set off for the ash heap of history – his little minime was booted from power on the same day in Caracas. Then, I awoke.

Think it’s absurd? Maybe. But castro didn’t show up at his own egomaniac dictator-festival birthday party yesterday, and now tomorrow is judgment day for his best pal, Hugo Chavez. Venezuelans will go to the polls to either say yes to the thug and suffer, or say no to the thug, and either be robbed of their victory, or savor their victory, the sweet morning after of a tyrant’s demise. That’s something that will be sweetest when its effect spreads from Venezuela to Cuba, which will in the end at long last breathe free air. That day is coming.

Will it be tomorrow?

Here are some good blogs to watch as Venezuelans go to the polls – our own amigos in Venezuela – Daniel, Miguel and Alek, all of whom are in Caracas and watching every last thing there is about this election. They’ve all already started blogging it, minute by minute now.

In addition, Venezuela Today has links to everyone else who’s blogging this election, and all of them will contribute something. Keep an eye on this site for updates, here.

From your lips to God’s ears!

  2. Anyone out there have any comments on the chavez victory? Was the election fixed or is most of Venezuela stupid for voting him in? I’m not in any way trying to insult anyone by bringing this up, but the Cubans were tricked by castro during the revolution, chavez has shown his tru red colors!
