As if I needed to advertise this, tonight at 8:00 PM the Babalu Radio Hour will be on the air. Click the image below at 8:00 PM EDT and click the button to listen live. If you log on too early the archived show from last week might start playing. So be there (or reload the page) at 8:00 PM sharp.
I think we are going to go free form tonight with a lot of open phones. The number to call is on the linked page. Hint: use your mobile phone and save on long distance (most mobile phone plans come with free long distance) because the call-in number is out of state.
LET THE SHOWDOWN BEGIN
You guys have a radio show tonight? LOL !!
I go to church on Wednesdays! I wish you were on another night!
Great show tonight guys.
Good show guys! If I wasn’t for work I’d probably call.

Good show. Gotta disagree on one point: The OJ Simpson analogy os a pretty bad one.
OJ Simpson may be a murderer, but he was also a football player. Same man, but very different and unrelated deeds.
Che is not a famous revolutionary who HAPPENED to also have been a murderer. He is a man who became famous for a revolution where his ROLE was murder. His fam and his murder are very much related… in fact causally related, whereas OJ was VERY famous and had PLENTY of fans before and without connection to any wrongdoing.
hey henry and val (or just henry), just out of curiousity i am double majoring in political science and communications at fordham university, fordham college at lincoln center, in new york city. i am interested in having a future in radio and broadcasting so i was wondering if i can offer anything to the radio show… let me know… e-mail me at jordanjsanchez@yahoo.com or at ajosanchez@fordham.edu… i am very passionate about pursuing my career and about cuba and politics thanks
It’s not a perfect analogy but the point is that the Che Guevara from the motorcycle diaries (even if he was the person portrayed) is very different than the the butcher of la cabaña. Same with OJ. 2003 yard OJ is very different than the butcher of Ron and Nicole.
Whatever redeeming value the person had was far outweighed by subsequent actions.
I’m sure Ron Goldman’s dad and Nicole Simpson’s sister would have a hard time accepting someone wearing OJ’s jersey.

You should beg on your knees if necessary to get George Moneo as a co-host on the Babalú Radio Hour.
Thanks, Manuel. I enjoy it every time I’m on with my fellow malcontents…
Actually Manuel…George is on the show more often than you might think.
😉
No, I mean the real George; the one who speaks like G.K. Chesterton (the wisest man who ever lived) and is a perfect complement to Val’s Dean Martin.
Manuel: Holy shit! Comparing me to Chesterton is high praise indeed. I am not worthy… Here’s one of his quote that applies to the contretemps of the last few days: “Fallacies do not cease to be fallacies because they become fashions.” (April 19, 1930)
Robert: The planet has a fever.
George:
I read at least 100 pages of Cherterton a day to keep my style pointed and my wits sharp.
And here is one virtue of books over records: listening to 10,000 records will not make you a musician; reading 10,000 books will make you a writer.
A little thing; G.K. would have done better.
P.S.: BTW, George, did you know there are actually recordings of Chesterton speaking on the BBC? Yes, extemporaneous Chesterton; the great mind in action.
“And here is one virtue of books over records: listening to 10,000 records will not make you a musician; reading 10,000 books will make you a writer.”
While you are correct that my almost forty years of music listening — I have over 2,500 CDs and, 1,000 LPs — have not made me a musician, it has made me acutely aware of the one thing you need to appreciate music: knowing good from bad. I’ll take bad Thelonius Monk or minor Brahms over virtually any new “music” being created today.
I only wish I had the time to read and read, and read some more…
