It’s Friday and that not only means that our weekend will soon be upon us, but for most of us it’s “San Cheque”, meaning, it’s Payday!
And, since it’s San Cheque, I figure it’s the best day to hit you all up for Cuba Nostalgia donations. There’s a little less than two months before the event begins and we’re way behind on fundraising. This year’s goal is $5000, so far we’re at close to $700. Obviously, there’s a long way to go.
I’ve added the donation button to the sidebar as well as a “Cuba Nostalgia Sponsor” area where a graphic image and link for those businesses that have donated some greenbacks will be featured. A donation of $120 or more gets your company’s graphic up there on the sidebar so if your interested in your business becoming an official Babalu Cuba Nostalgia Sponsor, email me at cubanostalgia – at – babalublog – dot – com.
The first Official Cuba Nostalgia Sponsor is Diez Architecture, Inc. in Miami, Florida. I worked with Pete Diez some years back and not only is he a darned good architect but a very good friend and colleague. So, if you’re in the need for that new high rise condo building you just been dying to build, or your mansion in Weston or Star Island needs major architectural work, give Pete a call. Tell him the Lynx sent you.
Gracias, Pete, for your support and friendship all of these years.
Are you going to sell T-Shirts? You need to get a kick ass design and get sizes for the event to raise funds. You can get shirts printed with up to 5 colors on 100% cotton both sides and it would cost around $5-$6 each. Lo vende por $15 y te va bien.
Back in the 1980s I worked for a t-shirt company and I sold iron ons to tourist shops. You can make a lot of money to pay for the event and get your name out there. But what sells the product is the design that catches the eye or the saying…….better if both. Que piensas?
Ahhhhhhhhhh before I forget, because good ideas are flowing de la fuente de mi mente, maybe the babalublog community can donate Cuban memerabilia to sell at the event? I have some Cuban coins, another might have pictures viejo, post cards, this is only an idea.
Guajiro,
weve printed tshirts for both previous conventions. Im waitingto hear back from my contact regarding same.
Mike, you out there buddy?
Guajiro,
if you wantto donate some items, I think we can do what we did last year and have Babalu Blog Tombolas.

I cant believe I lost all the text in a glitch…let me start over. I think a raffle would be a great idea.
Another idea is renting or have someone loan you a big ass plasma screen, hook it up to a PC and let people read the blog at the event. The screen is big to involve more than the person who is on the terminal.
Another idea is informational broshures promting the plight of Dr, Biscet or/and the ladies inn white. I volunteer to make a broshure, send it to you for approval, print 2K and have then delivered to your casa before the event. What do you think?
Guajiro,
Everythng that you mention takes MONEY. The big tv costs almost as much to rent for three days as it does to buy. The brochures require design work and printing and that costs money.
I been here before man, trust me.
How about asking the Estephan’s to do a charity for Babalu and maybe they can even have Carlos Santana show up so he can be un-brain washed about(yo soy el che no me maten)?? Great Idea Huh??Co~no!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Putting up the paypal button and the thermometer might be good.
