The Council on Hemispheric Affiars touts itself as “an independent, non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt research and information organization. It has been described on the Senate floor as being “one of the nation’s most respected bodies of scholars and policy makers.””
With that in mind, your weekend homework assignment is to read this “article” from COHA and find the plethora of misinformation, rhetoric and downright falsehoods. Then, email COHA at coha@coha.org and teach them a thing or three about Cuba’s reality, which they seem to have misplaced somewhere in their non-partisan asses.

  3. It would be interesting to find out where Laura Wayne got her data. Most of her statements of “fact” appear to be lifted right out of castroist propaganda.
    There’s the “free” health care and education myth again. It is getting to be a rather quaint approach to the evil that has held sway over Cuba for so long. Ignore the oppression, the lack of freedom, the incarcerations, the firing squads,ordinary citizens risking life and limb to flee the country, the electro-shock “treatments” for dissidents, the jailing of librarians, the burning of books, the lack of everything that is good and decent in a society. Parrot the same tired lies about free health care and education, and try to convince the uninformed.
    This article is long on bemusing falsehoods and near-truths, and short on facts. It would be funny, if the consequences of spreading these lies weren’t so tragic for ordinary Cubans. This display of ignorance is beyond redemption.

And he managed to destroy his country in half the time Castro destroyed Cuba, and to destroy it even more thoroughly. And THAT is what is at the head of the U.N. “Commission on Sustainable Development”!
