A Perverse Mind Needs Your Help

Dear Babalusians,
I ask for your help in setting a crooked mind straight. This afternoon, I had posted a piece on CubaWatch concerning an entity in New York City dubbed the Cuban Art Space. These folks will be hosting Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte in the coming weeks – a sort of “love-in” of Cuban hate if you will. I had sent Cuban Art Space Director Sandra Levinson an email concerning the audacity of hosting two men known for their hate of Cuban liberty under the pretense of celebrating Cuba and well . . . I received a response. A rather sickening one at that.
Please, send Sandra Levinson your thoughts, reactions and hopes for a free Cuba. In the name of every individual killed during the 13th of March tugboat massacre. In the name of every innocent relative who felt the final sting of a revolutionary bullet – set this woman straight!

    Sandra Levinson [aka Cassandra Levinson] is a frontline fanatical instrument of the Castro dictatorship. She has been running the Cuban Art Space in NYC [on 14th St.] for years. Even back in 1987, the late great Reinaldo Arenas included her as a character in his novel, THE DOORMAN. Reinaldo had the habit of slightly changing someone’s real name and he did this with Sandra Levinson whom he re-named Cassandra Levinson. Cassandra is not going to listen to anyone because not only is she a fanatic of Castro, she is also profiting from the regime. She is an art dealer who buys Cuban art in Cuba and re-sells it here at enormous profit. She was also responsible for lobbying the US government to help lift the embargo restrictions.
    She should be forced to register as a foreign agent.

  2. Anatasio- Cuban art as in current original works, or Cuban art as in stolen art? If so the FBI might be interested in her.

  3. So that’s what that space is! Ray, it may have been on 14th Street before, but it’s definitely on 23rd Street now. I work about two blocks from there, and I’ve passed it many times. Maybe I’ll stop in and check it out.
    I looked online at their website and couldn’t find anything about Glover and Belafonte. Where did you find that information Anatasio?

  4. It is neither useful nor sensible to cast pearls before swine. They will only trample and soil them, and continue wallowing in the muck.

  5. Ziva – no, her art is that of contemporary artists – no trafficking in stolen items here.
    Carolina – I was on an email list of theirs and received the information that way.
    Asombra – very true – I’d thought of forwarding the post I’d uploaded last week titled – “One Story Out of Millions” but then thought better. For some people, there’s just no point.
