Contrary to all the talk about transition, and normalizing relations, we know that conditions in Cuba have worsened since raul assumed power. Why isn’t the international community working to help Cuba refugees fleeing the repressive dictatorship?

Yes, and then they are sent back to the hell-hole from which they were escaping, and where it will now be worse for them, much worse. These are not faceless numbers to be tossed about and ignored, but human beings. They are someone’s parent, child, spouse, lover, friend, or child. Where is the international program to assist Cuban refugees? Who is caring for them?
I just read In La Jornada, via Cuba Verdad, that Mexico and Cuba are working on a migratory agreement. Officials say the goal is to ensure a way of transit that is legal, safe, and ordered, but these measures, contrary to the polite diplomatic language, won’t reduce the risk to Cubans. It will have the opposite affect; it will increase the risk to Cubans, placing them more and more into the hands of unscrupulous smugglers.
Mexico has had a lot of negative publicity about their treatment of Cuban refugees, and other migrants entering Mexico, as well as their hypocrisy when it comes to Mexicans illegally entering the U.S. Whatever is being discussed behind closed doors in Havana, you can bet it’s not about the welfare of Cubans.
One by one, neighboring nations are cutting off passages of escape to Cubans fleeing the repressive castro regime. The UN and foreign government’s who decry the horrid treatment of refugees internationally, ignore the plight of Cubans. We never forced East Berliners back over the wall, and we shouldn’t be sending Cuban refugees back either. It is wrong for the refugees and wrong for America.
Great Post!
How come this isn’t in the MSM news?
I have been reading you for only a few weeks and I want to let you know that I think your site is incredible. I’ve passed it on to several people because it is such worthy reading. We get so caught up in islamic terrorism issues, that we neglect the communist tyrannies just around the corner.
Thank you for providing good and interesting information. I’m hooked and you’ve been bookmarked!
