Wow

It’s always amusing to click on Drudge’s links; there’s always something interesting to peruse. This gem popped up today from the Dallas Morning News (Marc, did you catch this?):

Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams came from Ireland to Texas to declare that President Bush should be impeached.
In a keynote speech at the International Women’s Peace Conference on Wednesday night, Ms. Williams told a crowd of about 1,000 that the Bush administration has been treacherous and wrong and acted unconstitutionally.
“Right now, I could kill George Bush,” she said at the Adam’s Mark Hotel and Conference Center in Dallas. “No, I don’t mean that. How could you nonviolently kill somebody? I would love to be able to do that.”
About half the crowd gave her a standing ovation after she called for Mr. Bush’s removal from power.
“The Muslim world right now is suffering beyond belief,” she said.
“Unless the president of the United States is held responsible for what he’s doing and what he has done, there’s no one in the Muslim world who will forgive him.”

OK, so let’s examine just these paragraphs from this “peace” activist:
(1) She wants to kill Bush nonviolently,
(2) the Muslims are suffering, and
(3) it’s Bush’s fault.

  1. Let’s see…Jimmy Carter, Arafat, Rigoberta Menchu, and this Irish person. Right. And I’m supposed to take the Nobel Peace Prize seriously. Sure thing. Assuming a consistent, logical progression, Cindy Sheehan MUST be the next recipient, with some competition from Angelina Jolie to make things a tad more interesting. It would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.

  2. This morning, when the story began to get press in local radio, the host and callers wanted to contact the Secret Service about it. When the station called William she agreed to come on the air and I heard the interview.
First, she flatly denied that she said anything about “killing George Bush,” claiming that she was misquoted and taken out of context (that means that both the AP and and the Dallas paper got it wrong ….. mass hallucinations). She also claimed she didn’t hear what Donovan had said, trying to distance the “Peace Conference” from Williams’ comments. Williams was away from the stage and allegedly didn’t hear Donovan’s comments …… sure.
She was then confronted with the SAME comment that she made a couple of years ago about killing GWB, at that time while addressing a group of children. She admitted she did say that, but within the context of “killing children” …. see, her beef is that wars and conflicts kill children, and she wishes death on anyone who kills children anywhere. She then turned the conversation into an argument about Iraq and the number of civilian casualties, yada yada yada.
The host then asked her if she understood the impact her comments was making on an American audience…… and the moonbat, I guess seeing the handwriting on the wall, ended up saying she was sorry for her comment. She didn’t outright apologize, she just regretted her comment.
If this had been said by you or me, our lily-white derrieres would be speedily hauled before the Secret Service — with good reason. But these poisonous vipers keep getting a pass. Stay tuned ….. she may yet get a visit from one of the guys with the earpieces and the dark glasses. Bruja idiota.

  3. If the Muslim world is suffering, it is because of teh corruption and oppression of their own leaders, just as it has always been. Not only is this woman supremely ignorant (i hope), she shows immensely poor taste (at the least) to wish the death of any president. Regardless of whether or not you agree with a sitting president, to state a wish for their death is tantamount to treason, in my opinion. Not cool.
