…an island on the net without a bearded dictator
The Douglas B26 Invader:
Originally the A-26, a medium bomber from late WW2 (because there was already a B-26, the Marauder, or also known as the “Widow Maker” because it was tricky to learn to fly.) The A-26 was pretty fast, fast enough that one of them even shot down an Me-109, and not with the turret guns. Used pretty extensively in Vietnam too.
Val, where is this going to be built?
A26 is correct, Korean war vintage last flown by the Alabama Air Guard. Did some good BBQ hell on the causeway leading to the Beach in 1961, saved lots of lives on that bomb and strafe run by the Alabama Guard pilots and Gus Ponzoa, too bad just after that we lost four great Americans.
The musuem will be at Tamiami Airprt in Miami.
