Why the silence on Cuba?

Why is there only silence in reaction to Cuba’s nightmare? How is it possible that a United States president listed the names of egregiously wronged political prisoners, and the MSM whose responsibility is to report what is going on in the world, ignore them? How is it possible that the people of the MSM deem not newsworthy the victims of a 50-year-old violent oppressive dictatorship? Instead, they editorialize to protect the dying dictator, when they should be demanding he be held accountable for his crimes against humanity. Where is their shame? There are 50 years of documented evidence of the castro regime’s violent oppression and enslavement of Cubans. Where are all the so-called defenders of human rights? Where is the outrage for the murdered and oppressed victims of fidel castro’s dictatorship?
Celebrities who wouldn’t have been caught dead playing in apartheid South Africa’s Sun City openly frolic in Cuba and brag about it. Where is the outrage for the men and women sentenced to decades of imprisonment for engaging in activities we consider normal God given rights? Where is the outrage from women’s groups for the economically forced prostitution of so many Cuban women? Where is the outrage for the racist imprisonment and disenfranchisement of Afro-Cubans? Where is the outrage for the enslavement of a population?
How can the world’s media celebrate Cuban Healthcare while Cubans are dying from neglect? How can the world’s media celebrate Cuban Education when Cubans have no access to information? How can the world’s media celebrate the murdering castro brother’s so-called “paradise” while Cubans line up for meager food rations?
How dare they allow their political agenda to take precedence over their humanity at the expense of Cuban lives. How dare they embrace the mass murdering icon of Cuban oppression che in the name of coolness. Since when is the murder of innocents cool?

“And as with all totalitarian systems, Cuba’s regime no doubt has other horrors still unknown to the rest of the world. Once revealed, they will shock the conscience of humanity. And they will shame the regime’s defenders and all those democracies that have been silent.”

It is time to end that silence.

  1. It is called HYPOCRISY.
Alina Alonso has just issued a written “plea” to artists and intellectuals in the United States, asking for support, and I quote “[s]o that a book, a scientific study or a choreographic work are not considered, in an irrational way, crimes.” She claims this request is “[f]rom the heart of human duty, the conscience of right to life and liberty.”
At first glance one would think she is writing on behalf of castro’s political prisoners. She wants freedom fro Biscet, for the writers, poets and librarians rotting in castro’s jails. No such luck. She is actually asking for support to lift the “blockade.” Hypocrite!

  2. Ziva –
Let’s make it real easy. When CUBA opens up again, the new regime like the old gets to decide who reports from the island and under what terms and conditions. The new regime will have the power – it will be up to them to USE IT! -S-

  3. This is the same thing that has appeared here before in different forms. The MSM doesn’t care one bit what goes on in Cuba; the Americans that visit Cuba and many others feel there shouldn’t be any type of embargo or restrictions to travel. It’s total indifference to the atrocities committed by Castro and others in the regime. Just look at how much news comes up about the situation in Venezuela and how it’s worsening.

  4. Don Tomas –
Who is to say that a new CUBAN regime has to let the mierdo sniffers in to begin with, or allow those already there to stay? -S-

  5. That is exactly what I was trying to say last week. It was a kind gesture, but not a show stopper that the media would stand up and be forced to take notice. We are on our own.

  6. 1. Most Cuban exiles are conservative or Republican.
    2. castro is non-white. A white liberal is very afraid of ever critizing a non-white, no matter what he or she does.
    3. castro is a commie as is most of hollywood and the liberal elite.
    4. mexicans out number cubanos a million to one and vote (most illegally) democrate all the the time.
There are the four reasons there is silence and will always be silence on Cuba. If you don’t benifit a liberal somehow(with votes or ghetto points) you don’t mean mierda to them!
