Can You Keep A Secret?

The folks over at the International Republican Institute have, as they say in Cuba, “discovered the Mediterranean”.
They conducted a “secret” poll on the island and GASP!, they found that 79% of Cubans “questioned do not believe the current government can fix the problems facing the country and 74% want to vote on Castro’s successor.”
Some folks have to take a poll to realize that people prefer freedom over tyranny. Some people need to see some statistical evidence that communism has been a perfect failure everywhere it has been tried? The 100,000,000, that’s right 8 zeros, people it has killed isn’t evidence enough. Are they still looking for the ONE place where it has worked? The ONE people that actually experience its yoke and still like it?
One Cuba “expert” still thinks that, when it comes to Cuba, Cubans would rather pay for their “free” healthcare and their “free” education with their freedom. You know, “those people” would rather be taken care of than be free:

“They do like some of the things that they’ve gained,” said Huddleston, a fellow at the Brookings Institution. “They might not be willing to give up stability for democracy.”

Uh…right Vicky, that’s why thousands chose the stability of the shark infested waters of the Florida Straights every year.

  1. The problem with this Huddleston woman is that she (like all her kind) desperately wants Cubans to prefer “stability” in abject misery to the “uncertainty” of freedom. She evidently doesn’t realize, or doesn’t care, how incredibly condescending and patronizing she sounds, as if Cubans were some sort of lower life form who don’t really need to be free or live in dignity. Needless to say, if this involved a right-wing regime, she’d be singing a totally different tune.

  2. And of course, the fact that untold numbers of Cuban exiles have been screaming the truth constantly for decades makes no apparent difference to the “experts.” They hear what they want to hear and ignore what doesn’t fit their prejudices or agenda. If it weren’t so disgusting, it might be kind of comical.

  3. It takes a vile and evil bitch like Vicki Huddleston, former chief of the American Interests Section in Havana, to quote the following: “the inconclusive response indicates that Cubans may wish to preserve some things, such as free education and health care. They do like some of the things that they’ve gained,” said Huddleston, a fellow at the Brookings Institution. “They might not be willing to give up stability for democracy.”
To wish upon 11 million people their continued misery and lack of freedom by trying to promote her leftist political agenda is malicious, criminal and immoral.

  4. The trouble is, Firefly, that she and her kind are totally OK with that. Do you think they could do and say what they do if they gave a shit? Cuba and Cubans are just tools to them, just a way to support, promote and further their agenda. It’s really nothing personal. They’d use ANYTHING that fit the bill.
