Gracias, Gracias. Thank You, Thank You.

Before this new year gets any older I thought I post just a quick note of thanks to all of you members of the Babalu family for your continued readership and support of this labor of love of ours. A special thanks to all the contributors who have so solidly and excellently made this blog the best:
Henry: Big H, I cant even begin to tell you how honored I am to have you as my good friend and co-editor.
Pitbull: Ill kick liberal ass with you any day, my friend, any day.
Alberto: You have single handedly kept Babalu awake in the mornings with posts much better than un cafecito. Heck, maybe we should start calling them Alberto’s Morning Babalu Colada? Gracias, bro.
Ziva: Have I told you that I love you lately?
Marc: You’re continuing efforts to bring the plight of dissidents to light, both here and at Uncommon Sense are an inspiration. Thank you, Marc, from the bottom of the old ticker.
Robert: Dude, you are my sanity, always incredibly articulate, level headed and erudite. It’s truly an honor.
Ruth: You are the class that compliments my crass. Mil gracias, del alma.
Amanda: What can I say? Youre the betesttest niece and Goddaughter any man could ever even begin to think about wishing for.
Ventanita: What’s it gonna take to get you to post some more of your excellent stuff?
Gusano: Ive begun writing many a time on some particular issue, only to find that you have already done so, and so much better than I ever could. Thank you, my brother.
Anatasio: Dude, youre a better, smarter, younger almost cooler version of me. Need I say more?
Marta: You warm our hearts with your love and life and that beatiful family. Thank you for letting us be a part of it. I’ll just have to forgive the extra five or so pounds Ive gained from all those delicious dishes.
Mora: You dont post all that often, but when you do, fireworks, baby. Fireworks.
Not only are these excellent folks the best part of Babalu, but please keep in mind that each takes time away from their careers, their families, their homes and their own excellent blogs to help keep the fire going here. I cant ever thank them enough.
Of course, even with all those excellent writers and thinkers above, Babalu would be nada without those of you that come by every day and hang with us. Again, a thank you isnt enough, really, but I hope you all know that youre family. I hope those of you that comment every day will continue commenting and those of you lurkers out there – you know who you are – will consider given us your two cents worth every now and again as well. To those that send us links and notes and other interesting items, keep ’em coming. Sometimes we get a little frustrated, a little down and those emails from you all are the inspiration that keeps us going.
Id be remiss if I didnt thank all the other bloggers, the Cubiches and the Honorary Cubiches, that we can always count on for support and for their own excellent writing. There’s way too many to list, but you all know who you are. Thank you for all the hard work and for your linky love. It’s an honor to be your friend and peer.
We will surely have our work cut out for us this new year and as always, we’re certain to have our small victories and losses. But we’re fighting for a just cause and what is right. Our long awaited victory wont really be ours, but the Cuban people’s. In essence, we’re the voice of millions who arent allowed to speak the truth.
Now, let’s all roll up our sleeves and get back to beating the castro regime with our reality clue by fours. There’s a lot of work to be done before the real work begins.
Viva Cuba libre, coño!

  6. Val, thank you and all the other contributors for your hard work and effort. I find myself checking out the blog several times a day just to be up to date on info. I have learned a lot, and become more aware that there are many others out there that share my views, and that I am proud to be an “intransigent, hard liner, old Cuban”, y con mucha Honra! I wish you all good health and happiness for 2008, and strength to continue with your fight to educate others on the plights of Cubans….and Marta, keep those recipes coming!

  7. Damn Val, sorry I missed this.
Thank YOU for allowing me to share your space and your heart with me and the others. Believe me when I say that I am truly humbled to be considered in the same breath as you and everyone else here.
