Another defection (from Hillary, that is)

I guess she’ll be voting for the man she hopes will be the second…

ABC News’ Rick Klein Reports: Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison — who famously declared Bill Clinton to be the nation’s “first black president” — is endorsing Barack Obama for president today, an Obama campaign source tells ABC News.
This comes as Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., also announces his support for Obama on Monday, at a rally in Washington.
In an October 1998 essay in The New Yorker, Morrison wrote: “Years ago, in the middle of the Whitewater investigation, one heard the first murmurs: white skin notwithstanding, this is our first black president. Blacker than any actual person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime.”
The Morrison endorsement is expected to come via letter from Morrison to Obama that the campaign is releasing later today.

  1. this is HUGE! I am enjoying what the Clintons are reaping. Although, remember that Toni Morrison herself said on Charlie Rose that she does not completely trust any white man. She is a racist.

  2. No surprises here. Same as with Oprah. Obama is clearly perceived as a trendier, hipper, more “progressive” option than some bitchy middle-aged white broad who’s spent most of her adult life clearly riding the coat-tails of her maniacally unfaithful husband to fulfill her political ambitions. We’re definitely not talking Golda Meir here. Even Democrats know perfectly well what Mrs. Clinton is; it’s too obvious to disguise or ignore. Yes, Dems would vote for her against any Republican candidate, but I can’t believe many of them actually like the woman. She stinks on ice.
