“But I’m exempt, of course.”

” ‘We Just Have to Slow Down Our Economy’ to Fight Global Warming.”
UPDATE: Henry “Killjoy” Gomez did not allow me to enjoy this story for long:

I hate to be the one to burst the bubble but here’s Clinton’s remarks in full:
And maybe America, and Europe, and Japan, and Canada — the rich counties — would say, ‘OK, we just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.’ We could do that. But if we did that, you know as well as I do, China and India and Indonesia and Vietnam and Mexico and Brazil and the Ukraine, and all the other countries will never agree to stay poor to save the planet for our grandchildren.
Even the folks at NRO are saying this is a hatchet job on the philanderer in Chief.

My warning, that if these leftards take over we’re doomed, still stands. 🙂

  2. Then again, that’s what one of the manyobjections about the Kyoto Protocols. Just as the Mexican govt’s detention and return policies; re Guatemalans are never acknowledged in the US immigration debate, or Saddam’s practices at Abu
Ghraib, Ahmadinejad’s at Evin prison, (where he
was an ‘administrator’; the doublestandards are
galling). These carbon substitution policies; embedded in the laughable “Energy Bill” make power more expensive, prevent any further oil (and likely coal )exploration; which makes everything carbon based more scarce and expensive. The “Ethanol scam” makes food stuffs more expensive. the turn toward “cellulose based ethanol” (switchgrass) will make meat more expensive am raising the price of everyday items, including food, making the day to
day a little more unbearable here in the first World. You think there’s turbulence in Mexico, now, just wait. Maybe the visions of riots in
the “Running Man” and ‘protein recycling; in Soylent Green, were more on point than we knew.
Oil has been branded as unnatural, it’s as natural as anything else we have come across.
The culmination of the last “Manhattan Project”
nuclear power has been declared virtually forbidden for the last 30 years; while the population doubled and energy demand quadrupled.
Cheap energy as the President himself pointed out, made the SUV (previously a satirical bit
called the SUX in “RoboCop” possible but almost
obligatory. Meanwhile, it made it possible for
the demands of aesthetics over power demand considerations
And for what will we make these sacrifices? to forestall a minute increase in temperatures that
are part of a centuries long climate cycle. People couldn’t stop the little “Ice Age’ of the early 19th century, or the warming of the 13th century. making life Let’s make it simple, people emit the majority of CO 2, kill people that
reduces the CO2 somewhat. Although mass
decomposition will likely raise it again. This is the “Club of Rome” ZPG agenda in a new bottle. Carter’s ‘malaise speech, updated for the 21st Century.
