is because this man doesn’t want you to:
Francisco Aruca whose ugly mug you see in that video is a castrista living in our midst. He was denounced as being controlled by the Cuban DGI (Cuban intelligence) by Jesus Perez Mendez a former DGI captain who defected in 1982, when the FBI debriefed him. Aruca has made a fortune selling travel to Cuba. This is one endorsement that Joe Garcia and Raul Martinez certainly don’t want. But they got it.
This doesn’t mean that Joe or Raul are fidelistas but the fidelistas know that it’s much easier to catch a Democrat Comiendo mierda when it comes to Cuba (can you say Jimmy Carter?). There’s a reason that Aruca doesn’t want our three congresspersons to be reelected and that’s because they have been VERY effective in preventing the regime from getting what it wants, full trade and diplomatic relations without conceding a thing. Aruca thinks the dynamic can change by changing the faces in congress. And it doesn’t help when Joe Garcia equivocates like he did on the Babalu Radio Hour a few months ago when he criticized President Bush for allowing cash sales of food to Cuba to continue but when I asked if he was for repealing the food sales loophole, he said no.
Govern yourselves accordingly.

Henry,
The bottom-line argument you’re making is absurd.
When Lincoln, Mario and Ileana were in Tallahassee, Joe was already marching in Washington and meeting world leaders with Jorge Mas Canosa.
To suggest that somehow Joe would be weaker on Cuba, or that they’ll be able to sneak one by him, is absurd and requires one to completely ignore the guy’s 20 year record of being on the right side of the Cuban issue.
Whether you personally like the guy or not, Joe Garcia has been fighting on the right side of the Cuban issue his entire life and he should be repsected for that.
The post isn’t about whether I like Joe or not. It’s about the fact Aruca likes Joe.
It does matter who one’s supporters and cheerleaders are.

You can’t bank respect indefinitely. You can’t say the things he’s saying and have my respect. Sorry.

Sorry Henry.
Things don’t work that way. You need to look at both sides here and see what the other side is saying.
And quite frankly, I believe that the way you guys personally go after Joe Garcia here in this blog is offensive.
Joe Garcia has spent his entire life fighting on the right side of the Cuban issue and has probably done more than most people here to effectuate policy toward Cuba and make a difference in the lives of the Cuban people.
A healthy debate on the issues is always great and those are the kinds of debates we should be having – not only in this blog, but in this community.
But to go after a guy, that’s always been on the right side of the Cuban issue and has done a lot of good things for our community, the way the writers of this blog do is uncalled for.
Here is why Castro agent Francisco Gonzalez Aruca supports Raul Martinez:

Aruca’s pro-Castro activism has been traced by the FBI as far back as 1975.

Check out who the rest of Aruca’s buddies have been since 1975 and how Maria Felicia “Marifeli” Perez-Stable provided all their names and addresses to the FBI.
Missile,
What are you, joe garcia’s campaign manager? If Joe didnt want to get skewered here then perhaps he should have shown some respect when Henry interviewed him for BTR, instead of basically whining and screaming like a little bitch using his newpseak bullshit. That proved you just cant have a debate with Joe because Joe will do everything he can to silenece you or talk right over you, without letting you get a word in edgewise.
debate with Joe my ass.
Oh and Missile, Let me make something perfectly clear: Joe isnt running for congress to help Cuba, he’s running for congress to get another (D) in there. Y Punto.
Val, who are you? Walter Mercado? You don’t know what the guy thinks or wants. Hell, if I were you guys I would be jumping for joy if a Democrat with such an impeccable record on Cuba were running for office.
Henry speaks a lot here about judging people on their record. If that’s the case, then Joe Garcia’s record on Cuba is impeccable and he should be respected for that.
I’ve heard the radio show. It’s probably the show with the highest ratings that you guys have ever gotten.
The enemies here are in Havana and their last name starts with a c. Personally attacking people in our community that have done so much for the Cuban cause is simply not cool and is a low-blow.
Missile,
Once agian, no one is diminishing Garcia’s Cuba record here and I challenge you to find an instance of it anywhere on this blog. That said, Joe’s running against a Cuban-American congressmen that has represented this community for so long with such dignity, professionalism and dedication speaks volumes as to Joe and his motives. His running against another Cuban-American is not good for the cause you profess that he’s been so knight in shining armorish with.
As a “politician” he’s fair game here and as a “Democrat” – given that party’s penchant for overtly screwing the Cuban people – he’s doubly so, and as a democrat running against an incumbent Cuban-American, he’s triply so.
Any other questions?
Val,
Last time I checked we weren’t in Cuba. What you guys call an act of aggression against a Congressman “with such dignity, professionalism and dedication” is called an election.
That’s not a Cuban-American seat, a Republican seat, a Hispanic seat or a pro-embargo seat..it’s an American seat.
I’m not here to bad-mouth the Diaz-Balarts. I will keep my thoughts to myself about how I feel about them.
What you guys do here toward Joe Garcia is, quite frankly, disgusting. The barrage of personal attacks you guys launch is incredible. And it defies common sense, too. The BEST thing that can possibly happen to freedom loving Cuban-Americans is that MORE Democrats get elected that embrace the cause of a free Cuba as Joe Garcia has.
Joe Garcia is a cheap version of the Walter Mercado of politics. On election day 2004, at 5:30 PM, he and Democrat pollster Sergio Bendixen appeared before the Miami TV news cameras to announce, ninety minutes before the polls closed, that according to their predictions, John Kerry had won the state of Florida. Half an hour later, the duo returned to predict that Kerry would also win Ohio and therefore was going to be the next president of the United States. This was a dummy ploy to discourage Republicans from going to the polls before they closed. Garcia and Bendixen easily made fools of themselves. Wait until those video clips come out in October during the heat of the campaign. Garcia will once again be the laughing stock of South Florida. He knows he does not have a chance of defeating Mario Diaz-Balart. Instead, he is once again the Democrat sacrificial lamb in the hopes that Mario’s resources will be diverted from helping his brother Lincoln in the race against accused extortionist Raul Martinez.

Garcia will demonstrate in November that he is and will always be a loser. He is a modern version of Evelio Estrella, the Cuban American who in the 1970s perpetually aspired to public office but never won.
Joe Garcia was still in the “closet” twenty years ago.
Joe Missile,
Look up at the top of your internet browser, you have a back button that you can use anytime you feel Joe Garcia’s being “criticized.”
Once again, for your edification, he’s a fence jumper, a politician running here locally on a Cuba platform as a Democrat, while trying to take the seat of someone that has done what joe’s done tenfold and thus he is fair game.
You cant claim “poor Joe look at all he’s done for Cuba” in one coment, then when it gets discredited, come up with a poor joe, he’s running for an American office.
Dont come here to try to stifle my opinion with some whiny “pobrecito Joe” crap. I will criticize him like I have criticized menendez of NJ and any and every other politician, dem or gop.
I dont like him, I dont like what he stands for and I will not stop criticizing him whenever I damn well please.
Deal with it or move on.
Val,
You can criticize policy all you want. That’s why we’re in America and not Cuba.
Cheap personal attacks are out of line and unnecessary.
I’ll leave your “tenfold” comment alone. Clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Val: Note that the Missile Crisis does not comment on Joe Garcia making a fool of himself stating on election day 2004 that John Kerry was going to be the next president of the United States.

someone has tried to spread the malicious rumor that lincoln diaz-balart’s higher education was paid by fidel castro. yet personal attacks are off limits? only when it’s a democrat being attacked apparently.
