Anita Snow, the AP’s “correspondent” in Havana wrote a piece over the weekend describing a recent editorial in Granma:
Cuba’s leaders have a message for their people: Stop dreaming and get to work.
Cubans are spending too much time waiting for reforms they hope will bring luxuries such as electronics and trips, while what the country needs to advance is the sweat of their brow, according to an editorial in the ruling Communist Party newspaper Friday.
I got news for Granma, when you hit rock bottom, as Cuba has after 50 years of fidelismo, there’s only one direction they can go. Dreams are like that. When all you can do is dream about having a little bit of freedom and you get it, then you want more.
