If you didn’t like the church’s official position on Cuba’s “new leadership” presented during Cardinal Bertone’s recent visit, perhaps you would like President Bush to bend the Holy Father’s ear a little during his upcoming visit to the states.

I wrote the following:
Dear President Bush,
On numerous occasions, you have spoken in favor of democracy for Cuba. You have also called for an end to human rights violations in Cuba; especially noteworthy has been your recognition of the suffering endured by Cuban political prisoners such as Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet.
Please, won’t you extend your advocacy and ask his holiness Pope Benedict to intercede on behalf of Cuba’s political prisoners, and the Cuban people.
