Please deposit another month’s salary…

I predict that the sudden availability of cellphones for the average Cuban will have a very deep cultural impact. Imagine if, as Child of the Revolution reports, you had to spend an entire month’s salary on 38 cellphone minutes.
Think about that for a second.
I mean, we Cubans get accused of talking pretty fast as it is, but imagine what our dialect would be once it’s put on warp speed.

  1. Val that bill will be paid by the relatives outside of cuba , when you have a potencial 1.9 millions souls abroad that can easily lend a hand
Not only relatives but also friends will chip in

  2. Val,
All these measures Raul is implementing in Cuba is to extract more money from the exile community, period.
Unfortunately people in Cuba have gotten used to remittances from exiles and Raul knows it very well and is trying to profit even more from it than Fidel ever did.
What I cannot understand at all is that people in Cuba that don’t have enough to eat would even consider spending on a cellular service. That’s bullshit, period.
As long as the exile community continues to fund the Cuban economy, you will see more of these measures coming from Raulito.
And the bullshit in Cuba continuing.

SEñores TODAS LAS PERSONAS que viven en cuba y tienen familia afuera NO SE ESTAN MURIENDO DE HAMBRE. EN CUBA SE COME MUY BIEN Y SE CONSIGUE DE TODO……. AT A PRICE

  4. Abajo Fidel,
I live in Miami and fully aware that in Cuba you can find many things for a price, is not like it used to be in the 1960s and 70s.
I still have family there and don’t send a penny except medicines that I buy here and ship there.
Plus I have never returned to Cuba since I left 36 years ago as I swore to myself not to do as long as the island is not free and democratic.
I’m sure that there are many like me here in exile too, so you cannot say that everyone who has family outside Cuba receives money from their relatives in exile.
Moreover if my family there thinks that I’m going to subsidize from here the bullshit that goes on in Cuba, then they’re living in Fantasy Island.
Like many of us Cuban-Americans I have struggled a lot to make the American dream and came to this country with my parents for a new life because of Fidel Castro and Communism and I don’t believe in sending money there.

  5. I dont have family there. but has spoken with many that do… these new cubans are struggling here and still send money there often..
it is a fact…that’s why you saw many making lines to buy phones…
again if Raul opens a MC donalds and they sell you a big mac for 40 bucks, many will buy

  6. AF,
Why don’t you post the video where the organizations being accused by CANF defend themselves? Who the fuck is CANF these days anyway? A front for Joe Garcia and the Democrat party. Before, when it was founded, it was a front for the Republicans. Now we’ve come full circle.

  7. Although Maria Elvira says she offered the groups a chance to defend themselves they don’t have to jump when CANF tells them to. Orlando Gutierrez Boronat of Directorio Democratico did go on her show and refuted the claims made by CANF. Post that video.
Which leads me to another question, why the fuck is CANF investigating other groups? Who died and made CANF the authority on the finances and operations of other groups?

  9. Abajo Fidel,
It is also a fact that the majority of Cuban-Americans don’t send money to Cuba.
I also speak to people here that have arrived in the last few years and most show the same pattern, which is sending money to Cuba and travel to the island.
Yet, you don’t see this same pattern with the Cuban-Americans that arrived earlier.
The truth is that if all this flow of money to Cuba would stop, then you would quickly see how tough it would get for Raulito to rule.
    Henry,
You are very right about the CANF becoming the front for Joe Garcia and the Democratic Party and that’s why they have lost the enormous amount of support that they once had in this community and the political clout they once held in Washington DC.
As you say, this report or investigating they’re doing is further proof of how low they have sunk trying to divide and conquer this community.
At the end the blame falls on Jorge Mas Santos for all that has happened to the CANF because he was the one who hired Joe Garcia.
I suspect that the CANF has a hidden agenda now as I believe today that Jorge Mas Santos and Joe Garcia would love to do some sort of business with Havana (of course they would deny it to their graves).
Definitely neither Jorge Mas Santos or Joe Garcia don’t represent me as a Cuban-American.
Actually I don’t trust them as far as I can piss.

  10. Abajo Fidel,
Like I already said, I don’t trust them as far as I can piss.
The truth is that Frank Calzon and Roig have done more for the cause of a free Cuba that you and I.

  12. Abajo Fidel,
The truth and reality is that in this capitalist society that we live nobody, absolutely nobody, works for free unless is a financially independent person that volunteers his or her time for a cause.

  13. you know that u.s. law prohibits the direct disbursement of u.s funds to dissidents on the island. you also know that if it didn’t prohibit such disbursements that castro inc would use it for even stronger propaganda. groups like directorio democratico have a very important role to play building solidarity internationally. What has CANF done since the old man died?

  14. si yo se que el cash no puede entrar a la isla pero oye 80% en gastos y salarios me parece una figura exorbitante ..Esto debe ser modificado at ONCE

  15. ROBERTO DE JESUS GUERRA /PERIODISTA Y EXPRESO POLITICO QUE VIVE EN CUBA.

  16. Abajofidel
I think you should look a little deeper in how the Directorio Democratico Cubano spent the money, IT WAS NOT 80% in salaries. Their expenses are public and not hidden, while CANF’s report is partial. Investigate more before you let a bunch a BAFOONS tell you how to think or what to think.
Did you know that all these organizations get audited by the government quarterly, and they also hire auditors to continuously audit them, so when BAFOONS like Joe Garcia accuse them, they can take him to task for his accusations?
Please inform yourself how the money was spent, really, and you’ll see.
Another thing, CANF wants organizations in other countries to get this money for Cuba’s freedom instead of the organizations that currently receive it. They’re not fighting to get the money into Cuba, they want the money to go elsewhere, for God only knows what hidden agenda.
