Karaoke for the political prisoners

In today’s episode of People-to-People Contacts we witness the power that song has to lay waste to 50 years of tyrannical oppression.
New York, New York performed by Drunk, Drunk, Cannucks, Cannucks

And here’s another freedom song, by the Candian Elvis of course:

  1. These Youtube videos showing clueless, indifferent, hedonistic tourists having fun in Cuba are a great idea! Please keep it up. It’s the most perfect way to undermine the absurd, lame argument that tourism to Cuba is going to somehow sweep Castro, Inc. out of power.
And to show you how hypocritical and two-faced these pro-Castro engagement, tourism-to-Cuba types are, the same people who are now arguing for tourism to Cuba are the same who just a few years back were singin, “I ain’t going to play Sun City” and boycotting tourist resorts in South Africa.

  2. Here are the lyrics to “Sun City,” sung by a bunch of singers including Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Riatt [yes, the same Bonnie Riatt who sings in Cuba and wants to lift the embargo], Jimmy Cliff, U2, Jackson Browne [another pro-Castro type if I remember correctly], etc.. Back in the 80’s all of the liberals were singing and praising this song.
Read the entire lyrics posted below, but notice the scathing jibe regarding constructive engagment:
    >>Our government tells us
    We’re doing all we can
    Constructive engagement is
    Ronald Reagan’s plan
    Meanwhile people are dying
    And giving up hope
    This quiet diplomacy
