Not everyone in Hollywood is on the Obama train

Respected actor Jon Voight, father of actress Angelina Jolie, well known for his humanitarian work, writes a scathing critique of the audacious junior Senator in Monday’s Washington Times:

We, as parents, are well aware of the importance of our teachers who teach and program our children. We also know how important it is for our children to play with good-thinking children growing up.

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

The Democrats have targeted young people, knowing how easy it is to bring forth whatever is needed to program their minds. I know this process well. I was caught up in the hysteria during the Vietnam era, which was brought about through Marxist propaganda underlying the so-called peace movement. The radicals of that era were successful in giving the communists power to bring forth the killing fields and slaughter 2.5 million people in Cambodia and South Vietnam. Did they stop the war, or did they bring the war to those innocent people? In the end, they turned their backs on all the horror and suffering they helped create and walked away.

Those same leaders who were in the streets in the ’60s are very powerful today in their work to bring down the Iraq war and to attack our president, and they have found their way into our schools. William Ayers is a good example of that.

Thank God, today, we have a strong generation of young soldiers who know exactly who they are and what they must do to protect our freedom and our democracy. And we have the leadership of Gen. David Petraeus, who has brought hope and stability to Iraq and prevented the terrorists from establishing a base in that country. Our soldiers are lifting us to an example of patriotism at a time when we’ve almost forgotten who we are and what is at stake.

If Mr. Obama had his way, he would have pulled our troops from Iraq years ago and initiated an unprecedented bloodbath, turning over that country to the barbarianism of our enemies. With what he has openly stated about his plans for our military, and his lack of understanding about the true nature of our enemies, there’s not a cell in my body that can accept the idea that Mr. Obama can keep us safe from the terrorists around the world, and from Iran, which is making great strides toward getting the atomic bomb. And while a misleading portrait of Mr. Obama is being perpetrated by a media controlled by the Democrats, the Obama camp has sent out people to attack the greatness of Sen. John McCain, whose suffering and courage in a Hanoi prison camp is an American legend.

Gen. Wesley Clark, who himself has shame upon him, having been relieved of his command, has done their bidding and become a lying fool in his need to demean a fellow soldier and a true hero.

This is a perilous time, and more than ever, the world needs a united and strong America. If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.

    Thanks for posting this … kudos to Mr. Voight! He must now get ready for the wrath of Hollywood’s “socialists”. I hope that others come out to support him, but we know that he will be dismissed as an “eccentric”. I was also pleasantly surprised the other day when I read some comments by Angelina Jolie.

    I pray that come November the effects of “Obama is the answer” elixir wear off and those who are not enthusiastic to vote for McCain will opt to cast their vote AGAINST Obama.

    I’m extremely impressed by Jon Voight’s comments, did not expect anything like that from him. I bet you that the MSM will ignore them.

    It took lots of guts from him to take this stand. I’m sure that he’ll pay a price for his beliefs among his Hollywood peers.

    Now I see why Angelina had the decency to visit the troops in Iraq a few months ago.

    I’m impressed not only that he said it but in the context and clarity in which he explains why Barack Hussein Obama is not the right individual to be in charge of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

    So far this is the best argument I have seem against Barack Hussein Obama presidential aspirations.

  4. Freedom-Jon and Angelina were estranged for years, fallout from the long ago divorce and aftermath. I don’t know if that is still the case or if they’ve reconciled, so I’m not sure how much influence he’s had on her thinking.

  6. What’s sad is that there are a lot of conservatives in Hollywood and they meet in secret because of fear of blacklists. The f***ing liberal scumbags who are always crying about the blacklist in the McCarthy era are applying the same tactics to conservatives who don’t subscribe to their leftist socialist neo marxist swill.

    Just shows you can never trust liberals with power.

    Seriously, Voigt is a MAJOR anomaly for someone coming out of Hollywood. I didn’t think such a thing existed, but I suppose there’s always an exception to the rule. Of course he’ll be dismissed as an old fart has-been who’s trying to be the new Charton Heston or something. The willfully blind and deaf never see or listen to anything they don’t like, no matter how obvious, clear and true it may be.

    Still, my hat’s off to the guy.

    You’re right on, I still feel that Hollywood conservatives should stand-up more regarding of the consequences. Too much is at stake for America in this Presidential election.

    The American people are getting a daily dose from all these Hollywood idiots bashing Bush and America and are influencing their vote in November.

    If those Hollywood conservatives don’t have the courage to stand-up and deliver then the consequences will be a Barack Hussein Obama Presidency that will screw America big time for the next four years.

The insinuation that young people are as dumb as Voight — that they automatically listen to their teachers — is an insult to all the Obama and McCain supporters I see on campus who only want to do as well if not better than their fathers (and never mind that Obama has never wanted anything to do with Farrakhan). Socialism — in 2008!

    Obama was against the war from the first place, so how would he have sent troops?! Who has the problem with facts? Also:

    That anyone in 2008 could believe this, after the mountain of testimony published since the mid seventies, boggles the mind. No less than J. Edgar Hoover told Nixon that there was no evidence that Communist agents had infiltrated the anti-war movements. It got so that Nixon considered infiltrating peace movements with his own men in order to later pin the blame on radicals (the plan was fortunately shelved).

    It’s amazing what a little educacion can teach you. But, hey, we all need our useful fictions. If this post is supposed to be a fan letter, maybe he’ll ask his daughter to send you an African boy as a reward.

  13. I apologize for the sarcasm. I know the need that conservatives feel for a Hollywood spokesman; but the position requires one to show more education than, say, Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon. Liberals already boast two rank embarrassments — surely conservatives don’t want the same.

    Here you go again, I told you to stay off that Bushitler Halliburton Kool-Aid, that stuff is deadly for your brain cells. I’m telling you have a knack for falling off the wagon that’s bewilders me.

    I while back I meet a Vietnamese friend of a friend that his father was in the South Vietnamese Army when Saigon fell. His father was one of the lucky ones to end up in a reeducation (concentration) camp. Years later his family migrated to America (forgot to ask him how they got out).

    This guy could tell you quite a few stories what happened to the South Vietnamese army members and people once the North took over and the many massacres that took place there that were never mentioned by the MSM as the MSM only mentioned the Killing Fields in Cambodia when tens of thousands (and probably more) were executed all over South Vietnam by the triumphant army of the North.

    Some time ago I found a place in the Web where it mentioned an estimated number of around 750 thousand people that were executed in South Vietnam after the North took over and the MSM never took issue with it.

    When I see this guy again I’ll ask him in more details about this issue.

  16. You haven’t addressed my point. Yes, the re-education camps were evil, but the Vietcong and NVA weren’t sending agents to US soil to “brainwash” radical youth.
