Preliminary View of Cuban Vote (UPDATED)

Henry will do a thorough analysis of the Cuban vote and the so-called “generational shift” in the coming days, but in the meantime I thought I would show the electoral map of Miami-Dade County, Florida for the presidential race. About 25% of the precincts have yet to report, but I think we can draw some interesting and telling information from it.
(UPDATE 640 AM: The map below is with all precincts reporting).

The green areas are precincts voting for McCain. The blue are Obama’s. Essentially, the green McCain areas cover Little Havana, Hialeah, West Miami, Westchester and big chunks of Kendall and Coral Gables. All of these areas are heavily Cuban-American or at least have significant Cuban-American population numbers. It will be interesting to see how the numbers break down, but for now it appears that “Change” wasn’t bought into by the Cuban-American community.
