No class, Mr. President-Elect

When I heard Mr. Obama’s news conference today, I was taken aback by his flippant insult to Nancy Reagan about her holding “séances” in the White House. The scoop from the Politico:

Obama apologizes to Nancy Reagan for ‘careless’ joke
President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan this afternoon to apologize for a joke about her having held “séances” in the White House, an Obama aide said.
“President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off handed remark he made during today’s press conference,” said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter. “The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation.”
Obama was asked at his press conference today if he’d spoken to all the “living” presidents.
“I have spoken to all of them who are living,” he responded. “I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances.”
He was apparently confusing stories about Reagan’s consulting with an astrologer with those about other First Ladies — from Mary Todd Lincoln to Hillary Clinton — who tried to make contact with figures from the past.

Making a disparaging remark about a living First Lady, who defines class and dignity, the widow of a President that many Americans, myself included, revere. So this is how our four-plus year Obama journey into socialism, disrespect and classlessness begins.
One thing’s for sure: He’ll succeed in making Bill Clinton look good…

  1. Even bigger comemierdas are the sycophants around him laughing at this “pujo.” As Henry says, “Stay classy, B. Hussein.”

  2. I haven’t seen much comment about his oratory skills, or lack thereof. This guy can’t even talk without his teleprompter. He is a bumbling, stumbling doofus!!!! Will Putin and Ahminedejad send Barry their questions in advance so BO’s lackeys can transcribe them for Barry OTeleprompter????

  3. The most un-presidential person to ever become president of the United States. What a stupid, asinine remark. No class whatsoever.

  4. George,
What’s up with that sign in front of the podium? Was it really necessary? “Uh, uh … since I still can’t use the Presidential Seal … this one will do” – The One … talk about a waste of taxpayers’ money … Pathetic!!!
I wish you well 🙂 Melek

  5. Robert, he didn’t have any choice but to apologize after making a remark like that.
    Things aren’t starting out well.

  6. the question was pretty stupid as well. “Did you consult any living presidents.”
He should have just answered the question.
Of course these numnuts were more concerned about what kind of puppy they were going to get. Here we are in a global economic crises and fighting 2 wars, and all these dimwits can ask “What kind of dog are you getting?”

  7. This behavior of the newly classless elected President does not surprise me at all as I already noticed his arrogance on several occasions. This is the kind of individual the American people elected on Tuesday night, that simple.
During the campaign you could see these character traits on Barack Hussein Obama, yet the people chose to ignore it. The plain simple fact is that he is not Presidential material, only an articulate bullshit act.
There will be much more to come from our newly President in the next few months. I’m afraid it will get worse but eventually he’ll manage to piss-off many Americans that voted for him.
    That’s guaranteed.

  8. Barry thinks he’s a comediane, does he? If he wants to “unite” the country, he shoul.d probably not have started by insulting the conservative’* most beloved president’s wife. She also happens to be my favorite first lady. He’s a schmuck and a dolt to boot.

  9. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering the guy flipped both Clinton and McCain the bird–welcome to the least classy president in, quite literally, American history.

  10. Well, the first thing he did after being elected is hire Mr. Tact as Chief of Staff. Look forward to Secretary of State Kerry.

  11. I believe we can certainly forgive Obama for that disrespectful remark for his obvious lack of a sense of humor.
It is even more important to not forget this incident.

  12. Robert, no we cannot. This is the first in a long series of unforgivables we will have to bear with gritted teeth. If you want to forgive him, fine. Not me.

  13. It’s the first salvo in the guerrilla warfare we’re up against from now on.
We can’t give him an inch; I don’t believe in being gracious with people of his ilk – sorry. They’re inherently wicked. What comes out of their mouths exposes them.

  14. Accepting his apology isn’t “giving an inch”. It’s acknowledging his humanity. Raise your hand if you’ve ever said something stupid and/or insensitive in a weak attempt to be humorous. I know I have.
Folks, we’re going to have MANY opportunities to criticize Obama on legitimate and important issues. It’s time to move on from this incident and keep our focus sharp, otherwise we get bogged down and lost in the weeds. We can’t afford to get lost.

  15. Sadly, if not tragically, there are people, LOTS of people, who would laugh at absolutely ANY supposed joke this guy made, no matter how lame or inappropriate, just because it’s the “in” or “cool” thing to do at the moment. I’m afraid we live in a country rife with fashion victims, and I’m not just talking clothes.
