Forgive me father for I have stood up against tyranny

Can someone please explain to me why it’s necessary for any nation to “apologize” for supporting the liberation of an oppressed people? It would seem that an apology for the “apology” is in order here. The complete and utter lack of logic in this world never ceases to amaze me.

Guatemala begs forgiveness for an act of courage – assisting in the attempt to stamp out Cuba’s death squads – 50 YEARS AGO? An attempt that was manned largely by CITIZENS OF THE OPPRESSED NATION IN QUESTION – and not simply by so-called “American colonialists!”

Yet another nation that hasn’t learned a damn thing from its own sad history.

  1. Colom’s problem is not lack of logic. Trust me. It’s lack of balls (or, perhaps, it’s just a function of being from Latrine America–it comes with the territory).

  2. Yes it is fear speaking, at it is not without reason for there now will be at least four years without U.S. support against actions by Castro’s tyrannical dynasty …

  3. Forget about the US supporting actions against Castro, it looks like the new US Administration wants to help Castro and Chavez get their house in order – Yesterday, US State Department sent a message of congradulation to the Venezuelan people on the positive outcome of the referendum (before the results were officially in).

Today on an even brighter note, the Attorney General of the United States called the American people “cowards” in regards to racial issues. He seems to have missed the historical memo that the United States was the first multi-racial democracy in the history of the world.

How long until our next elections? It’s already been a long four years….

  4. As I always say…we Cubans are alone in our fight for freedom in Cuba.

But can someone answer me truly? What are people so afraid of? Why do people come to Cuba and kiss the rings of Don Fidel and Don Raul? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Someone please enlighten me.

  5. Cid,

It doesn’t make any sense to me either, but some people have suggested that castro, inc. has dirt on certain VIPs and Latin American leaders and blackmails them. For instance, remember the controversy over the alleged dirty money that was funneled to Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner for her presidential campaign by Chavez. If Chavez funneled dirty money to Fernandez de Kirchner, Raul is well aware of this illegal transaction and is fully capable of using it against her. The president of Chile is the daughter of a man who was allegedly killed by Pinochet. I imagine that he was an Allendista and you know that Allende was an instrument of Castro. There is probably some dirt there as well, etc..

  6. Whatever the case may be — and it very well may be the fact that they are simply appealing to an uneducated proletariat that hates the USA and simply sees it as a David vs. Goliath battle which Castro, inc has so beautifully concocted — we need more soldiers in this propaganda war.

  7. “Guatemalans harbor a deep resentment toward the United States for past violence” during one incident in 1954. Yet, they harbor no resentment against Cuba for arming and fomenting guerrillas in Guatemala for more than thirty years. Those chapines are amazing!
