My father, a Vietnam veteran pushing 60 who left NJ for SC to escape the insane taxation of the former after an early retirement, was and still is a big Obama supporter. Throughout the campaign he stood stubbornly blind to my insistence that Obama was a Marxist who would drag this country into a hole and establish a power differential with the government firmly on top.
Maybe this “die with dignity” clause will finally wake him up, although after a life of blind Party loyalty, I doubt it. It is amazing how someone who has lived through so much, and risen so far from his beginnings (as a poor farm boy) can remain so goddamn oblivious.
